New level that needs a rating

Here is a new level fresh of the level editor, I thought you might want to take a look at. ^_^

Please rate it and give an explanation, thanks.

It's good and all, but I for one am tired of seeing the same levels such as cliffs all over the place. Sure it's tough, but it can be done.

Good level, the only thing I don't like is the part where that cliff loops around and basically just ends.

Judge_S 06-17-2003 07:17 AM

My opinion is virtually identical to Kyden's. I don't like how the cliff ends. And also, it would be nice to see levels with some sort of meaning, or use.
Overall though, it's a nice level to look at.

Rating: -10/10
Reason: Because I hate you?

... ... ...
OK, OK, I'll be fair...

Rating: 8.5/10
Reason: Because you always do the same thing: cliffs, cliffs, cliffs, and cliffs! That all I have ever seen from you... When you were working with me, I asked you to try something new, but you refused, and said cliffs were your "strength"... I am starting to think they are the only thing you are capable of!

The cliff just... ends... Why? Because sometimes level makers can't find a tile, and it probably doesn't exist, and they spend a while looking for it, but they don't find it, so they just leave it and forget about it... or... thats what happened to me... =/

Here, I'll shut up and leave now, and you can ignore this post...

It all seems so unnatural. Who set up that fence? Were they sober while doing so? And the cliffs are strange. The one roughly in the centre snakes around a little as if it is gaining height, but then no point is further above ground level than any other. It all seems so impossible.

I like the overall theme, though. Narrow mountain paths are cool, and generally underrepresented. There just need to be fewer oddities - instead of making the cliffs snake around, just make mountains on the mountains. Fewer perspective errors that way :)

Thanks for the input, the reason I do these levels id because I'd send in an origanal detailed level and get shut down completely, Ill show you one with some meaning that I made when I was levels admin on faheria.

Ignore the lil thing in the lower left hand side, i took that out before x.x

I thought it was boring.

Go outside. There are leaves, there are rocks, there is dirt. In other words, use some different detail tiles. Even the "light detail" level makers I know use more variety than that.

5/10

Ok I have to say this.. Stop with the Grass!! You keep switching back and forth between the two different grass to sand tiles. You keep doing it like every 4 tiles then switch to the other type. It looks really badly, if done properly it can look ok but the way you do it is terrible.

I would but why waste my time when there are countless examples available. Here is one Spanky did recently for his tutorial.

That's even worse, do something other than windy mountains.

Wait a minute, you just said to stop with the cliff tiles yet you congradulate spanky on doing a plain old level like mine? Wow, you're all like that, you're telling me to do something other then cliffs and then tell spanky that his level is awesome when it's using the same variation of tiles. No wonder there aren't any good level makers out there x.x if you keep on changing your minds... im not just pointing at you Brett.

draygin 06-18-2003 12:24 AM

The Tiling MAN THE TILING!! Look at the grass tiles! Your grass tiling is awful!

Eric_1337 06-18-2003 12:27 AM

Thats not the point... all of you are telling me it's real plain and then you go and turn to spanky and say it's awesome! What do they call that?

Aknts 06-18-2003 12:30 AM

Ok ok ok.

I like the level, but Eric has done better. I do agree on the path stuff you switch way to much, but that something you can fix easy. I qould give it a

8.5/10

I think that is the highest rating I have ever given. Its a nice level but there is alot of stuff that needs to be fixed.

Good job.

Eric_1337 06-18-2003 12:36 AM

Im redo-ing since very little people like it.

It's not a bad level just the grass bugs me on how much it sticks out. That alone would make it look much nicer. :)

What can i say? You have, like, these sorts of levels in 5 types.
Crap
Bad
Normal
Good
Great

Yours would be in Good or Normal. I mean, nice, it's a cliff level, decent detail, the cliffs look nice and turned, but, well... That's it. Also, one cliff ends lame.
