A Lost Star fades away.

Well, today, I will be the bringer of bad news to all of those who were hoping for some good news. I'm sure a few of you expected something like this to happen, I guess your were right in a way. Anyways, I am sadly annoucing that Graal2230 will nolonger be in development for Graal. The reason Graal2230 is shutting down its development on Graal is due to lack of Graphical support. I've made numerious attempts to get a graphics team together however they have failed. When I did get graphics artists, they'd leave within a week or two. For almost a year it has been like this, I suppose this was due to the fact I wanted high quaility and detailed graphics to awe and amaze those future players.
Enough with the problems of the past, however lets look to the future. 2230 will stay in a unengined phase of development, or in other words the drawing boards. I believe I still have a open offer to use a 3D engine from somebody aswell, I'll mostlikly try and perserve and snag that as soon as I am ready. Anyways I hope you all will understand why I made this discision, it has been a hard one.

Ididnt even know we had a global gfx team =/

ASouthernMan 06-15-2003 04:04 AM

That's the thing with all these "popular" servers. The ones that make it on the server list suck, and the ones the ones that MIGHT be good give up.

Deek2 06-15-2003 04:36 AM

You could've asked me :( I'd be willing to help.

I wanted to join, because it is my only intrest in Graal. But zen blamed the GuildCP or some ****.

Ghost, you tryed hard and that's what counts. It would have been a good server if you had gotten the support you needed. Nice try...:(

konidias 06-15-2003 06:27 AM

Another one bites the dust. :(

Too many anticipated playerworlds are dying... Now I'm hearing soulblades new pw project might die again because of the lack of good staff....

It's a problem everywhere I'm afraid. Nobody wants to help make these playerworlds great, without getting full access to everything and getting priviledges and whatnot. It really sucks... now I'm relying on the global scripter team for my scripting help. I have no scripters... I had:

Birdbird - helped with some gfx, left and went to do crap on Era, left Era shortly after and now he doesn't do anything for Graal
Loriel - helped for a short time with movement, he's kind enough to help me still and I'm thankful I at least have him
Kinatt - another gfx guy... he made some awesome item icons for me, and two enemies, and then he got hired for some other game where they were paying him (I still don't think they have paid him, oh well)
Kaimetsu - he helped me with the inventory script, he also helped with some scripting questions... he was "staff" but didn't do much and ended up quitting a month later :T
Falados - scripted stuff also... he's kind of just drifted away and I barely even talk to him about Oasis anymore... he brings up ideas now and then, but I've asked him to script stuff and he doesn't do it anymore :\

I've had some of the best working for me, and none of them lasted long. So right now, I'm all on my own again. Now I prefer to stay that way. I've learned from all these experiences that staff just don't work for me... I'll hopefully have the assistance of the GST, and I can handle everything else on my own.

If I don't get someone to help with scripts now and then though, Oasis would be done for as well. I just don't have the scripting abilities needed to make certain things.

Well if there is anything at all, can we PLEASE see it!? <3

JrTerrorist 06-15-2003 09:40 PM

If i'd known GP needed gfx people... I wouldve applied Oo;

I would post screenshots, but it would only consist of two

There was one introductory level which was really well done, used the Zal tileset, and a second NPC room with a few NPC's like armor and guns and communication devices that weren't fully functional yet. GUI was amazing, q menu was awesome (included a full body diagram and where your items were stored) and included a radar to identify enemies and allies etc. Great great great, I'm sorry it's going but it shouldn't come as a shocking surprise. Nothing much was done in the last while :(

That sucks man it looked nice..

Yeah...finding people with skill is really really difficult now...:(

And Spark: They should allow those servers up, once they are like 90% done, close to being finished, and make sure they are closely monitored for progess :O

And Moon Goddess again, there isn't a global GFX Team. There was, but not anymore. Right now there's just SirGaldor who is an (LAT) but a "gfx lat" as he told me :p

But umm...graal2230 was probably going to go up, and I think you should be able to find people to help...don't just give up i hate too see that happen :(

2230 isn't truely dying, I'm just throwing it up elsewhere. Maybe even make it a 3D game. I am also still looking for concept artists.

What crawled up your *** and died!? You idiot. Oasis is gonna be awesome and also if you leave Graal we'll prolly rejoice.

PS: Enigma sucks complete and total bull. Unfinished Levels. Tile Errors. Ripped NPCs. Everything else.

You do realize that when you say what crawled up your ass and died. It's usually in reference to a really bad fart.:p Now there is the saying whats up your ass. Which can mean why are you being such a jerk. But the two are totally different. I know who cares but I just though I would point it out.

That and Enigma has been down for a couple of weeks now. :)

Everyone's worked on your server before. It's sort of like the town *****. Everyone's had a ride.

So please, sir, shut the hell up.
