Avatar Question.

Avatars are great. I love it, it's really fun .. makes priests much more powerful, and evens them with warriors. I wonder what mages will use? I guess summon pet monster, at high levels, works well. I've seen skeletons summoned.

Anyway, I have a question. I've seen three avatars-

Govannon,
DianCecht,
and Brigid.

They all make sense to me .. except for Brigid.

Brigid is a woman, the Goddess of Nature and Peace .. yet her avatar looks like a dark ninja warrior. He's even holding a sai. What the? If anything, I would have pictured Brigid looking like Huru does .. what's the dilio, eh?

Kaiser2 04-19-2003 01:25 AM

I thought Brigid DOESN'T use weapons? Silly Stefan, Sai are for Ogma.

Yes, further confusion ..

.. and it's not like the Avatars need a weapon, DianCecht uses a wand ..

DenoriZakarum 04-19-2003 09:49 PM

is avatar the god iteslef? or is it one of its most loyal servants?

Kaiser2 04-19-2003 09:54 PM

Avatar is like its physical representation.

draco5432 04-20-2003 05:07 AM

I want to see what every avatar looks like!!

Python523 04-21-2003 06:45 AM

brigid will be a panther once the graphics are made (wasn't made at the time so stefan did the closest looking thing to a panther)

Aye, I heard that these aren't the true avatars ..

.. but .. how does a ninja look like a panther? o.o

ah, I just wish there was a prayer where I could summon Brigid .. I want to kick everyone's arse with a molto bella Goddess ..

Satrek2000 04-21-2003 06:11 PM

I havn't seen any avatar yet... -_- But isn't any of them finished, or is it just Brigid?

Kaiser2 04-21-2003 06:45 PM

Most are finished.

Locke_boy 04-22-2003 05:42 AM

They are all usable .. but the graphics they use aren't final.

The current avatars are humanoids, the finals will be animals (so I've heard).

Satrek2000 04-24-2003 07:20 PM

Could anyone explain to me the exact meaning of the avatar's descriptions in the god-threats?
If they're all humanoid or animalish, what does 1x1 and 2x2 refer to? Why does 2x2 have about 3 times the hp of 1x1?
And what are ac- and wc-subtractions based on, the priest's level?
Also, is it possible that your avatar runs amok when you fail to controle it, and are they all the same level, that is, you know the spell, you can controle them?

[Edit]I hope I will be forgiven, but I also posted that in the Gods forum, just in case...[/Edit]

Heh, sure. Here I go. The 1x1 and 2x2 seem to have not been added yet. It probably will be soon enough. It, I think, makes the avatars a bit more balanced in the fact that the smaller ones can dodge the larger ones more easily because they are smaller. .. and right now, they're all humanoid..

No .. they seem to be stable, they are based on your god. They aren't subtractions, though. Lower is better, don't forget.

All avatars are summoned by the level 10 prayer "Summon Avatar". Summoned creatures that are controlled don't get out of control. However, the creature can be killed by three circumstances:
1. It does not move for about 10 seconds or so
2. It is killed by a monster/player
3. The player controlling it casts another spell.

It is possible that as your wisdom level rises the avatar becomes slightly stronger .. but I have not seen any proof of this.

You're forgiven. :p

brock128 04-24-2003 10:51 PM

I think you should also be able to summon your god... It's a towering humanoid. The only thing is...
1. Can't use for PKing...
2. Drains all your grace...
3. Lowers your stats for a bit (Like poision) or some other setback.

what huru? x.x that statue isn't even me

DragonX 04-25-2003 01:50 AM

The statistics in the God thread arent incorporated into the avatars that were released on Graal Kingdoms. For now the only thing in avatars is their damage and health which is calculated by 2 formulas. The rest, I imagine, will be added later.

oro .. I meant the way you look on Kingdoms .. *confused*

Kaiser2 04-25-2003 04:09 AM

Oro? omi, Kenshin wannabe :D j/k
He meant that Huru, you're a peaceful person, and it'd make sense that the statue of Brigid would be made after you since you're both very peaceful people.

Okay, on second thought that makes sense... even though I don't fully understand that concept - I mean, itn't ac just the "level" or the armor and there's still a difference on how strong the armor itself is?

His words, not mine.

Brigit will do a panther, and Leucetious a para-lightning or so, the other avatars are already like they are supposed to be (may be archangel can get wings?)

Can you make Brigid look like Huru instead? Heh, the followers of Brigid want it! All three of us ..

I think it would be awsome if somehow, when you die, or people that want to stay dead, can get wings...dumb but just wandering.

edit: Way off topic!

Kaiser2 04-26-2003 07:21 PM

you're not wandering, you're wondering...and what...you'll have wings for 0.5 seconds? because when you die you respawn.

[Edit:]Also, there is no option to "stay dead" but if there was, then basically in RPing, all information you gain while dead would be considered "meta-gaming"(is that the right word?) Because when you return, all that information you gained would have been gained OOC, thus, you'd be breaking RP rules[/Edit]

Well, then, perhaps when you're dead, you can't hear anything people say, but only see what they do? I guess it'd sort of make sense. I really think, though, that when you die, your body should remain there for a while.

Kaiser2 04-27-2003 12:09 AM

Yeah...but when dead, you can still get PMs, and...sometimes actions speak louder than words...like if you see someone stabbing the Shogun or something.

Loriel 04-27-2003 01:07 AM

Perhaps we could put an NPC that looks like the player's corpse (and could perhaps be a container (like chests) so you can loot death players), while warping him to some random position and some random server :]

Kaiser2 04-27-2003 01:35 AM

Yeah...good idea, but I don't want to die by a level 7 newb with critical wounds while AFK and have my armor and weapons stolen.

Satrek2000 04-27-2003 12:24 PM

The container idea would be better for monsters I think, so you can try and exploit them for livers, skin etc - and their avaliability depending on how you killed them... Okay, I think that'd be better than making players containers, doesn't mean the idea is practical in general... vorpses aren't too bad, but they should only contain what the player would have dropped either way... it'll take time to search them, so your stuff might actually be guarded by monsters. And you wouldn't see from afar what you'e going to get...

Kaiser2 04-27-2003 04:02 PM

Yeah, I like that idea.

Locke_boy 04-27-2003 08:02 PM

Idea: instead of warping the player, the player remains there, but everything is dimmed out, and all the player sees is the terrain (or if inside, the structure and such). Get what I'm saying? That way, they don't hear or see anything. Maybe, when dead, you can't even send PMs, GMs, or MMs (toalls too if you've gone so far already). Whaddysay?

GoZelda 04-28-2003 10:39 AM

you said dark ninja dude, panthers are sometimes black.

Sounds good if there should be something as a dead-mode... I just don't see what use that'd be, you shouldn't be able to pick your droppings up, nor use your items - you'd be cut off graal in general, so why bother remaining dead?

Kaiser2 04-28-2003 07:41 PM

Maybe a seperate part of the server, like, the heaven world.
See, if you die, you go to heaven, you can only communicate with other dead people, and you can train and stuff there, but you can't buy items cuz there are no stores, but there could be quests there, and if you die, you can leave anytime, but there should be a quest to leave, not something related to how powerful you are, because newbies die all the time >.>

Hm... train there? So you could die and come back a week later trice as good as you were? Hm... the idea isn't that bad, but I wouldn't want to remain death for too long anyway ;)

Locke_boy 04-28-2003 09:43 PM

:: thinks of Dragonball Z ::

Heh ..

.. I think that's a good idea, a Heaven World ..

Kaiser2 04-29-2003 01:02 AM

Yeah, as I was typing it, I ended up being reminded of DBZ...as long as you don't have to run along a 32494723904 mile long path to get to a midget planet where you have to train with a blue guy, monkey, and a bug, then I'm happy.
basically, you can just replace certain tiles with another type of tile (like clouds) and the shore with edge of clouds, the water could be purple or something, the rest would be the same, but stores would instead be homes with NPCs, and dungeons would be the same. No, exp gaining there wouldn't be faster, but it provides solitude. Truly, I don't think Stefan would do this (it'd take a while) but I like the idea, and there could be some Heaven only quests, related to angels and demons and such maybe, and you can take the items back with you on the main world, and think of all the RPing this could provide!
"Our king has fallen on the battlefield, what shall we do?"
*corrupt person in kingdom takes over kingdom, and rules, well, corruptly*
*King then returns from the grave 3 weeks later, muscles bulging, and a Sword of Heaven in hands, duels the usurper and his cohorts, slays them, and reclaims the throne*
Kingdom events in between ensue.

Locke_boy 04-29-2003 06:52 AM

Ah .. this must be added! Brilliant!
