Nemesis - some questions -

Also undeveloped servers and under construction servers DO NOT COUNT as supports. Has to be a server with over 10 players. They will be verified.
So that eliminates ?
Graal Bomy Moon, Rudora, Valikorlia, Doragon Koden, Terra, Oasis, Graal2230, Shaded Legend, Gaia, Frolic, and Cynical.

and leaves us with
Delteria, N-Pulse, Unholy Nation, Era, Doomsday, Enigma Graal, Graal the Adventure, Babylon, Maloria, and Bravo.

+ You must have atleast 5 staff admin supports from 5 different servers. You may stack 2 from a server.
Does that include past admins that no longer work on any playerworlds. Like me for example. I was Levels Admin on Frolic before. If I support Moon God, would it still count?

Quote:

Staff Supports: -Name here- / -staff position- / -server here-
You might want to include some information so you can find out how to contact those people. Maybe include the person's account name, and e-mail address so you can verify if the person does support the individual doing the application.

Kaimetsu 04-14-2003 05:54 AM

The 5 from 5 thing is pretty horrible. I'd make quite a good PWA if only for my ability to analyse scripts, but I haven't worked in many places. There might, by some random chance, be admins on five servers that respect me and would support my app, but should I be denied if there aren't? PW admins aren't always chosen for their skill or maturity or whatever, so why are they being used as the jury? (The fact that you ask for people from different servers suggests that you're anticipating bias from them) Why not allow reference from, for example, forum mods? Or just generally respected members of the community?

HoudiniMan 04-14-2003 06:26 AM

I agree with Kaimetsu

"+ You must have atleast 5 staff admin supports from 5 different servers (not 2k2, not 2k1, not Classic). You may stack 2 from a server. For example 2 Admins from Delteria for an example, but you may not have more than 2 admins from one server and you can only have it once. Therefore you cannot have 2 from Delteria and 2 from UN.....as an example "

This is a bit unfair if you are only playing German Servers.

it's fair, because PWA have to work on ALL servers... they are global staff, so they need to be judged globally, not just on 1 server... I know it might not seem too fair... but this is for a graal global staff spot
;)

Actually, that also eliminates Graal: The Adventure. The other name for Classic. :T

Also if I see someone supporting more than 3 people, I will toss out the application. I really hope people can get supports from people they do not know rather than people they know because it'll make it honest but hey.

The five admin supports is sort of stupid. Let's assume for a moment that the.. what, nine?.. servers that are legible to submit votes all have five admins who are willing to support people. Since each admin can support a maximum of three users, we have.. 135 possible entries. Which isn't all that bad.

But what are the odds that five admins on each world will be willing to support people? Plus, don't forget that if someone is turned down for a support by an admin of a playerworld but then eventually becomes PWA.. don't you think there might be some kind of grudge?

I applaud Nemesis for finally moving to expand the PWA team, but there is no easy way of hiring global staff. I still liked the older idea of a "dummy server" that people could download and review, best reviewers are hired.

ETD 04-14-2003 12:30 PM

#1. the PWA does a lot more than just review servers...

#2. i'm sure Nem would like to limit the number of people applying, and that would be a good way of doing it. I doubt he wants to go over 135 applications, and neither would I...

just my thoughts
:)
i also thought that the application could have gone into a little more detail in questioning... but then again, I guess he assumes people will use that 2 or 3 paragraphs to explain all that. :asleep:

the 5 supports could get kind of messed up, theres bound to be lots of people who want to apply, and you can just hope they don't say "I'm already supporting somebody" when you ask.

Also, its rather good to get over 135 applications, sure its a lot of work, but then he'll have more to choose from, and less of a chance of getting someone unfit for the job.

Spark910 04-14-2003 01:36 PM

The 5 thing is purly a tie-breaker. Hopefully if you wrtie good enough he wont need them 5. And if he does, then it shows commitment as you went out and asked for 5 supporters.

So the PWA doesn't need to review german playerworld projekts
and control german playerworlds?
;)

i got 5 supporters even if all of them were not managers, i have spent most of my graal time on graal bomy moon.
i have checked out each server for at least 5 hours and stuff, but it's kind of hard to ask someone to support you that you don't even know, i mean i did ask a few people like a Graphics and SFX admin he said yes but then i decided not to add him on my list becuase you want people you know and trust to support you so when nem asks them they don't forgit who you are and say uhhh who?
so even if some of my supporters wen't the highist of admins, i still trust all of them.

If past Admins can support and someone can get more than two Admins from one server to support, I would support Moon God too. I was FAQ Admin on N-Pulse..

very good point, i mean, if i asked the manager of some server if he would support me and i don't know him then why the heck should he support me? for all he knows i could be a hacker!

ETD 04-14-2003 08:13 PM

I'm sure the point of this is to hire people who are more of a GLOBAL graal player... the people who are known on all PWs, and go around to them all... if you've only played 1 or 2 PWs your whole graal life, then you aren't really an experienced player, because you don't have experiences on them all.

Like when you review a server... you have to compare it to ALL the other servers, to see if it's up to quality... but if you have never played more than 2 servers, you don't have the experience to judge the quality of this new PW.... you also wouldn't know if they stole things from other PWs, because you don't play them...

I (for example) have not really played many other servers besides n-pulse... but then again, for the past 2 years, i have server hopped, and talked to people on almost every server there is... so now, i am friends with the admins, and owners there... Sure, i haven't played them all for hundreds of hours, but i've walked around them, and i know the people there...

anyways, to make it short, they are looking for GLOBAL staff, so they need someone who's been around to all the servers, and doesn't just sit on 1 server all day...

I might add this too, (something to think about and comment on)
Would if an Admin (current) was fired from another server for lets say hacking or abusive conduct , is this person STILL able to be a PWA?? I think that too needs to be considered that the person in question is an upstanding member of the Graal community and has never stooped to corruption or anything that will bring a bad name to Graal.Too many times people are hired from another server because they don't know the past history of the person and what they may have done somewhere else. I think this must NOT happen in the PWA , backgrounds need to be checked very carefully and if it can be proved without a doubt that they have had some misconduct on Graal , then they need to be removed from consideration. This is my thoughts on this, anyone else care to comment on this?

I agree if they've been banned or caught doing stuff from a server for any reasons that violate the EULA then they should automatically be disqualified. How ever in some cases such as being banned on Val for having a non-RP name shouldnt count etc..

PrinceDark 04-15-2003 12:54 AM

lol. Well this is kinda funny. How many people been jailed/banned from Valikorlia. haha. Well it's certainly something to think about.

Are they all eliminated?

I agree that would be kinda silly, besides I think that is dumb to start with. Wouldn't it be better for them to go into some ghost mode till they made an appropriate nick? Banning for a nick that is not a RP name will only run players off.

i can roll my eyes when i want

and the person MG replied to was not going off topic... that guy said that if you are banned on Val for not having an RP name, it shouldn't count against you, because that's not really anything that bad... then MG went off topic, and started talking about why would you be banned on Val just for your name... see what i mean?

and when did i "warn" someone

chill out, and relax :asleep:

zell12 04-15-2003 03:08 AM

I don't like this recomendation thing the way it is set up. You should get two recomendations from the manager of High Admin of two different servers. This will be a paragraph explaining to Nemesis why they think that the person they are supporting is good for the job and how they will represent the community.

I mean, because you got people with alot of friends on different servers, such as Loriel. He got 5 supporters. He doesn't even play Classic Playerworlds often, or at all.

This should be used for a "tie-breaker", it should be a mandatory thing. It is for all resumes' just about.

CyberX 04-15-2003 03:34 AM

Please people read what Nemesis said. The 5 supports are just a tie break. The thing that will be the most important will be the 2 paragraphs. Nemesis will judge the ability of writting and organizing the ideas of the person.

Forum is not the best way to choose someone from. I think that the 5 supports thing is very good and efective.

zell12 04-15-2003 04:28 AM

I dont think you are reading what we say. We understand it is a "tie-breaker" thing, but it is still wrong to do it that way.
