Horse FAQ

Here's a small Horse FAQ I came up with for those who need help with horses...

Where can I get a horse?

At the southwest part of the big mountain (press M and you'll see it) there is a cave. Go inside the cave and you'll find NPC Horse's. Give them an Evil Bomy Heart, and you shall recieve a horse egg in your inventory.

Where do I get an evil bomy heart?

Kill evil bomies, they will eventually drop one. You'll find alot of Evil bomies near the Horse cave.

How do I hatch an egg?

Drop it onto the ground, wait a few seconds, and poof, your baby horse has been born.

How do I get my horse to like me?

Feed it, and hug it (grab).

How can I name it, and make it follow me?

Right-click your horse and it shall say what % it likes you. When that % reaches 75% you will be able to name your pet. You must play the song of follow on your flute for it to follow you.

How long will it take for them to grow adult?

Currently it will take about 20-30 minutes until your horse is full grown.

How do I ride my horse?

Before you are able to ride your horse you must have a saddle, and your horse must be an adult/full-grown. Click and drag the saddle onto your horse to start riding it.

Where do I get a saddle?

You can make a saddle at Hirathia, in the clothing place. You will need four cloth to make it.

Where do I get a flute?

You make flutes in Hirathia. You need one board and two small gold nuggets to make it.

What are flutes for?

If you have one full-grown female and one full-grown male, you can play a certain melody, your horse can lay an egg.

Where do I make a peg?

You can make a peg in Harmonia. You need two nails and one board to make one. To use a peg just click and drag it over the horse and it will be chained to the ground, and will not be able to run away.

Song of Breeding - R D R L R D R U
Song of Stop - L U L U R D L U
Song of Follow - D R D U R D U L D (hold D the whole time)

Why won't my horse eat?

Stefan changed it so pets do not require as much food before, therefore they do not eat as often.

Well, I think that covers it. If I missed anything or made any errors feel free to tell me.

brock128 04-05-2003 08:37 PM

That's good. I'm sure it'll help lots of people :)

Also - LOGGING OFF WHILE ON YOUR HORSE KILLS IT! GET OFF BEFORE LOGGING OFF!

KuJi2002 04-05-2003 09:18 PM

4got about Pegs XD

busyrobot 04-05-2003 10:33 PM

I got off my horse and it disappeared :(

Maybe it was because I was using a building table to make a trough at the time, but it's still a drag

brock128 04-06-2003 12:48 AM

Okay, now if you want your pet to follow you or stop, you need to play a song. People know the follow song, but refuse to tell everybody else. Jerks.

Anyway, the stop song is...

L U L U R D L U
(L = Left, etc)

FFXRikku 04-06-2003 12:52 AM

Yeah, I updated it a bit. Also, watch out for horse stealers. They're everywhere. :whatever:

DragonX 04-06-2003 02:50 AM

Follow...

D + v > v ^ > v ^ < v

and yes you must hold D throughout the entire thing for it to work.

brock128 04-06-2003 03:10 AM

Meh, didn't think to use the higher 4 notes (D) :O

FFXRikku 04-06-2003 03:18 AM

Thanks DragonX. :)

Yeah Ryan, I didn't think to use the higher notes either. I never even knew you could play higher notes. :p

KuJi2002 04-06-2003 04:23 PM

It ofcourse would be fun if there was a sort of police, and when you catch a scammer you can jail them or something, and they stay there for a while (10 min.) or they pay like 20 plat to get out.
But then we get corruption :whatever:

FFXRikku 04-06-2003 06:16 PM

Yeah, still a cool idea though.

Maybe like they could attach handcuffs to them or something, and until they give the horse back they will be unable to attack.

Satrek2000 04-06-2003 06:21 PM

But how do you tell that a horse belonged to someone else before?

Hmm, well... Maybe something could be added that when you right click a horse then it would tell you who the original owner was (who hatched it.)

Okay, but what about horses that were sold or given away? I could hatch a few horses, wait a while then accuse those who found and raised then of scamming...

That would be a problem. I think Stefan should add a safe horse trade system, where it would transfer ownership to one person to the other, like if you wanted to give one away or sell one. That way you have the recent ownership of the horses. Maybe if a horses owner isn't active for a week or so then if you make it like you enough then the ownership would be transfered to whoever made it like them to 75%.

That way you would know for sure who rightfully owned which horse.

Christian 04-06-2003 06:33 PM

How can you steal horses :whatever:
And how can you be sure that your Horse doesn't get stolen?
I don't want to get a Horse as my friend then its away.

Um, that's easy. You find a wandering horse, hug it like 500 times and poof, the horse likes you enough to follow you.

To be sure that your horse isn't stolen it would be a good thing to peg it to your house or inside your house. That way nobody can get to it.

That'd work - and should be expanded to any pet, not only horses. maybe it could use ownership cards in your inventory which you can trade like items, and the horse belongs to the one who has the card. The card would hatch along with the horse, or make it a piece of the egg... And you shouldn't be able to sell it in shops ;)

I don't think its been fixed or updated but if you make the horse likes you 75% and it hases a peg. They can take the horse away with the follow stone and possibly steal the peg to. If they know how to...

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Then I guess the only way to keep your horse completely safe is in your house or in your kingdoms stables.

brock128 04-09-2003 02:04 PM

Sombody should really sticky this.

Yes, Dustari has stables on their island. Not sure about the other kingdoms, though.

busyrobot 04-11-2003 12:33 AM

btw, when my horse vaporized, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, she was found outside, so that ended well.

I think you shouldn't be able to hug a horse on an 'new peg', and that a peg stays 'new' for 36 hrs from the last time it was placed, and you should know how long its been by right-clicking the peg.

Pegs should get 'old' status instantly if placed within town limits or in doors.

Kaiser2 04-17-2003 06:35 AM

It should be that if a horse loves a person 100%, then it is loyal ONLY to that person, and no one else can make it loyal to them.

That sounds good. Like, you can only hug a horse effectively when it's below 90%, and it won't drop unless it's starving or beaten...

I3uLLeT 06-23-2003 08:39 AM

There should be a wagon for the horse to pull, so you can transport rare items...and hire security so it doesn't get stolen :)

They should also have muskets...I mean come'on :)

We have cannons, the technology to burst out balls, so they should have muskets...correct?

Correct, now, let's get to the next question:
How many times has this been suggested?
