Revamping Promotion Intervals

Lots of people are getting higher levels. Since 3 of the branches of our ranking system is based primarily on base level for rank promotion, I feel its time yet again to update.

Last time, people were starting to get above level 12..and like 2 people were level 14 or 15. So I simply added a new rank for each of the 3 branches, to cover 3 more base levels. This time, the leaps and gains are far to much, and I am not creative enough to add like 6 new ranks for each of the branches.

Also we've raised the minimum level requirement from lvl 5 to 7, to join the kingdom (also from 50 hours to 55, but that is of no consequence). So Conscript, Adept, and Vendor (lvls 1-3), and the ranks for 4-6, are not really placed well at the moment.

General Infini Ryo already took the liberty of devising a different setup, which I think is fine, so we will make it standard for not only the military, but also the magi and economic sects.

The new breakdown will be as follows, and we will slowly be transfering people to the new system, as they sign on I guess.

lvl 7 = Conscript
lvl 8-10 = Sentry
lvl 11-13 = Swordsman
lvl 14-16 = Knight
lvl 17-19 = Paladin
lvl 20+ = Gaurdian

That is the new setup for the military. Obviously the equivilents of the other 2 branches will fall into the same setup (vendor and adept are now also lvl 7, etc). Gaurdian was added as a new rank for higher level members. I will have to figure a new rank for the other 2 branches as well, I'd appreciate some suggestions.

The Navy is not affected by this change, as its promotion system is based soley on merrit. Also the special titles are obviously not affected since there was never any rank promotion method in the first place.

Alright well thats it!! I'll keep this stickied for a week or so.

I think it should be from 8-9 or something x.x sometimes it's hard to breach 10.

Level requirement is nice, but you don't even care if they can RP as their character. -_-

That's a lot nicer than the way I was going to phrase it.

A LOT.

RPing > Levels.

Thanks for helping making the server even worse for RPing, Zen.

Have a nice day.

Actually, there was a vote on this, ages ago, whether it should be RP wise, or level wise, so you really can't blame it on Zen, he did what any other democrat would have done.

Speaking of which, though, I was just planning to talk to Zen about changing it to promos through RPing *thinks back to G2k1*

So because most people don't want to RP, we shouldn't?

The old "Think -> Post" saying comes to mind.

For level 20+ it should be Guardian not Gaurdian, just letting you know XD

Don't blame me, it was an almost 100% vote for leveling, and Zormite RPs either way...though, like I said, I'm going to talk to Zen >:O

I really dont understand how this rank method would cause you to lose respect for me? Its been this way the whole time, I just changed the promotion intervals to keep up with the times..

Having these options really doesnt affect how well a person will RP or not. All it does is decide the prefix for your name. Its a simple efficient method to deal with the complexities of Graal Kingdoms, and it greatly reduces arguments that would arise otherwise.

Besides, the Navy promotion system is based soley on merrit, and we have a number of special titles which an individual can choose from which do not change over time and are ideal for a specific RP charater you had preconcieved in your mind or so. I've been known to add titles by request occasionally as well. So its not like we are forcing anybody to subscribe to a level based system.

As I said in an another thread, some people just prefer a title that shows their strength. If you are a higher level player, you will of course be stronger than many, and having a title such as "Peon" or something really wouldnt make much sense.

I believe Infinite is using the promotion intervals as minimum requirements before he even considers giving somebody a promotion. In other words, it allows for a lvl 20 to be a Swordsman, but not a lvl 10 to be a Gaurdian. Thats still going by my guidelines, its perfectly fine, and if the Archmage and Trademaster wants to conduct their sects in a similar manner than who am I to stand in the way? (rhetorical question)

DragonX, umm thanks for pointing that typo out to me lol, I think I did the same thing in-game with the actual rank. :|

Yuber is going to be the first Guardian, at the current rate, or Heyo, I'm not sure.

-Infinite- 03-26-2003 02:04 PM

Yuber? I haven't seen him before. I have Heyo as my first and only Guardian atm.

GoZelda 03-26-2003 03:32 PM

Yeah Heyo is nice :)
So i'm Sentry now :-/
But yes, you should also gain ranks RP-wise. Just make it that the ranks 'till Knight are RP-wise. To become a knight, you must be in training at one or get an RP-promotion for doing something honorful. Same for Paladins, except you can't go in study at a Paladin, you need to do something good. I mean, people aren't being chosen King because they're strong!

gozelda's got a good idea
