Graphics for Talisman
1 Attachment(s)
I think the talisman graphics currently doesn't fit what a talisman is.
I think that amulet GRAPHICS should be used for something else. I have a better graphics. Rate 1/5 (Note: Selzar did not make this graphic. He just wants you to think that he did) |
yes...a tooth with peice of string around it gives you magic powers......
|
Fool!
It's a TALISMAN! If you of known what a talisman was you Would not say that. Talismans arn't exactly AMULET type things with a diamond hanging. o.o |
Objectively speaking, I would normally expect teeth to be better at holding/focusing magic than diamonds. Depends on the universe.
|
It looks alright, might try and be a bit more creative with the tooth, though. Maybe a fang or an incisor instead of a molar.
|
*Agrees with kam00*
|
tooth looks like crap.

no?
You would see pixelized stuff. I would like you to do better instead of making fun of it, Zell12. |
I'd like to see you actually put your threads where they belong.

Selzar, if you don't stop putting suggestions in the main forum, I will remove your access from it.

=/:grrr: :\ :megaeek:  :o
Fine... o.o ill edit the gfx too \eDit agh too hard |
When focusing magic, or any form of Spirit energy, a refined object would be preferred, like a diamond, or a finely cut piece of metal, otherwise, the magic would be "unclean" and unsafe for the user and those around him: "Well, I'll just pick up this piece of turd, put it on a string, and now I can cast magix! *BOOM* *dies*"
Plus, Talismans would lose all value cuz it's just a tooth on a string and then no one will be a Sorc because it's so easy to learn wizardry -_- |
Um no?
The value would not go down. Well atleast use this graphics for a quest item or something. Or a tourney. It would be good. |
Yes...I'm sure a tooth on a string is worth 350 bucks where you live...
|
so like
you can buy a string ad then get sick and lose a tooth then wala there is your tailsman! |

I remember something in my Bio class about that, as in something can be organic, inorganic, and non-organic or something...I forgot the exact words, one means is organic, another was organic (as in it's dead now) and one means never was organic.

I believe even when something has died it remains organic. |
dead stuff is still organic matter.
and you don't know that the tooth is from something dead, could just be from some guy that forgot to eat. I have to say, plain tooth or plain diamond, unless the tooth is from a unicorn or some wee magical creature, niether are magical and well thus it's an issue of 'receptiveness' of the material, and then I'd vote for the diamond as being the most 'clean' vessel. Unless the tooth has magical origin, any residual organic energy left in the thing would be counter productive. At this point, the diamond is better precisely because it doesn't have imparted organic energy. It's a silly argument, like debating warpdrives in star-trek, so unless anyone has real world experience with a talisman it can be however the designers want it. P.S: I think 350 plat for a tooth and string could be fair, if the string is worth 340 out of the deal. Heck, it's still twice as cheap as a pen. |
Selzar didnt even make that graphic. That and like 5 other amulet gfx are on Debug server..
|
yes, with all I was refering to in earlier posts, I meant diamond as in receptiveness, that's why I said magic is like water, and it's hard for water to go through a clogged filter, like it is hard to call magic through a clogged/unclean source.
|
=):D :p
LoL I know. But I was gonna change it around to a fang. |
HAHAHAHAHA You'r so not funny.

It's an analogy of water in relation to magic, water can't pass through a clogged filter, and magic can't pass through a rough, unrefined object.

Water can pass through lets say a big slab of diamond or rock? or hell gold? |
Correct.
It is NOT about looks. The monster basically left a bit of its own power in its fangs. The power is inside the monster, therfore this tooth would be partly magical.. but I don't kow why it gives you wizardy x.x I really think a talisman should protect you against like a certain creature, maybe the talisman would lessen the damage against a lets say a GOD's Avatar - Balor for instance. Or maybe Demons. Because the tooth was departed off one of those things magically giving you immunity to it. |
In a sense, both of us are correct, a talisman would need a source from which a person can withdraw magic to use magic, if he himself has no knowledge of it. True, but you'd need something which you can pull magic through properly, and why I say a refined diamond or gem of some sort, it's because the atoms are arranged in neat rows and columns, in something organic, the atoms are a big jumble. If you know the premises of Feng Shui, you'd know that it applies the teaching of letting spirit energy flow, same thing applies to magic, aka "spirit energy"
|
well "spirit magic" would logically have come from a living creature, so wouldnt it make sense that this sort of magic would flow most freely through what it is used to and developed in? :)
Sure oragnic matter is all jumbled up, but it is also arranged in such a way to allow for information and matter to pass through it freely. Viens were organized out of this jumbled matter to allow blood to flow. Organic matter is more like a machine than a random assortment of crap. From afar it may looked jumbled, but its really a complex network of inter-twined mechanisms transfering information and matter in an efficient manner. Also, I picture magic as a form of energy. And energy has no problem at all flowing through organic matter. Hell I've been electricuted too many times to not know that. |

Ah, Zen, but you see, organisms ARE a jumbled pile of crap, we just got jumbled in a way that we still work :( And people conduct electricity, so that's no big surprise, but magic...magic is different, you know it doesn't flow through organic things, because most of the time, you hit organic things with magic >.>

Amulets are different. Amulets are for storage of magical energy. Maybe diamonds are good at that, I dunno, but they have to be prepared before they are of any use. A tooth from a magical beast needs little treatment before it can begin aiding the wearer. Zen is right, organic matter is not simply a random assortment of atoms. All of our characteristics evolved over time, being honed by the progressive generations. Organic matter is far better at channeling spiritual energy because spiritual matter is tied to organic creatures. And we don't hit things with magic - we use magic to make a fireball and then hit them with that. |
Talismans technically ARE for storage of energy, because the caster has no knowledge of it, there fore he draws it from the talisman.
|
Whatever. Unicorn horn or dragon claw would be cooler pendants. Dragon claw or tooth or eye or fingerbone for wizards, unicorn horn for priests someday. Then dragon guts can be randomly dropped with a very low percentage by iguanadons and smithed into amulets somewhere. Maybe even with different base levels, who knows? I think the chain's nice as it is though.
|
How would you craft a gut into a talisman...It's hard cuz it's mushy...Eye shield doesn't make sense either x.x
