Hi, I haven't posted any scripts (normally lights) in a while, so I thought I should make some :D

Tell me what you think!

tlf288 02-21-2003 11:33 PM

Not bad. Why not try to make the solar system? Or even spell your name out? Make a system that can do any characters a player enters.

Ningnong 02-21-2003 11:38 PM

hmm

here try this, if you look closley its a "D" then a quick "K" then a sort of "L".... then wait about 10 seconds and theres a deformed "r"

hehe.

tlf288 02-21-2003 11:43 PM

Were those accidental or purposely created? Is purposely why did you pick those letters?

Ningnong 02-21-2003 11:46 PM

I just edited one part of the script, and voila I guess.

tlf288 02-21-2003 11:49 PM

Try to make it say your name, or even myne :) .

Ningnong 02-21-2003 11:51 PM

That could be a possibility =P

*makes some more groveh lights*

Don't be so pointy, I remember him posting that a while ago.

Maybe they just have a similar style? It does happen.

It's easy to make elaborate effects by accident. They're only impressive if you intended to make them.

That is an extremely stupid concept. Light effects are impressive regardless how they were created...now if you intended to make it, then you look better yourself, but everyone learns most things on accident.

You missed the point entirely. It's more impressive if you can visualize something and make it happen, rather than running across something that looks nice.

osrs 02-25-2003 03:26 AM

well, some commands I did learn by myself.
But you will always find that 'X' command.

Translating...=p
X=oh man,i hate this command,i don't know how to use it.

No I don't think I did miss it, that is still a dumb concept.

I guess I wasn't clear. They can still be visually impressive, sure, but the fact that you scripted them isn't as impressive because it was an easy task.

I just don't agree. If a person makes something visual impressive on accident, I don't care if the person had no planning or did have planning, I am just as impressed.

It's not a dumb concept at all. I personally am much more impressed with someone who can visualize what they want and create it from nothing... Not some idiot who was plugging numbers in and ran across something "pretty". You probably couldn't tell the difference without being told, but the point is that it would be more impressive, not more obvious.

Selzar 02-27-2003 07:14 AM

wow these are great,
lol wanna make one of these for a spell charge on graal kingdoms?

Listen to me. The effects are still visually impressive, that is true. However, you would be impressed at the eye candy and not at the skills of the scripter. Two different concepts, yes? The thing they have achieved would be an easy task and would not indicate large amounts of scripting skill.

Heh, actually I don't really care about the person who made it. All I know is "Wow that looks good, must be a pretty nice scripter". Now if you are talking about reputation, well yeah. If I see something posted by joe newbie, I probably will be reluctant to look at his post, but if I saw something posted by...dunno...Kaimetsu, I probably will look. Still, I don't see why that matters much. Oh well, it is a stupid topic to discuss heh.
