Magic

Melee class should not be able to use magic.
Remove this.
No more wizardry or praying spells.
This unbalences the graal system.
"Soon the summoning spells will be enabled, giving sorcerers and priests more ways to fight back the barbarian hordes... "
Quote from stefan.
ALL WARRIORS and MOST barbarians are going to HAVE this spell and be able to cast it
This totally kills sorcerers and priests.
Please for the game, make it so we CANNOT use spells.

I don't think that's fair. I think it should be made so that non-magic-users just can't use the more complicated and powerful spells, like summoning and such.

zell12 02-16-2003 08:58 AM

Umm... no, im an alchemist and I use magic mostly because I invested over 700 hours into getting rings, stats, and spells. So no.

--Chris-- 02-16-2003 09:48 AM

Anyone should be able to use anything considering that they aren't strong in everything. Warriors and Barbs probably do half the damage priest/sorcerers do with a spell/prayer.

Alchemists are magic-users though .. :|

zell12 02-16-2003 08:29 PM

Alchemists aren't supposed to have magic, they use potions... Where in all that does magic come in?

Torankusu 02-16-2003 10:10 PM

A balanced system would be no fun. Duh.

zell12 02-16-2003 10:13 PM

Actually, it would be better then having all the spells, skills, prayers, etc...

Magic comes in when they cast alchemy :p

AlexH 02-17-2003 06:08 PM

Just make it so they need to bge twice the level to use the spell.
For example a mage would have to be level 3 to use a certain spell and the melee classes would have to be level 6 to use it.

Although there would need to be some sort of handicap for magic based classes so they can't use powerfull weapons to make it fair.

That's not a bad idea. It would do well to balance things!

There already is a handicap. Mages CAN use prepared swords, but more often than not it's going to slow them down, since they can carry so little, unless they cast strength every few minutes, which is still annoying to have to stop for, and even more annoying when it runs out and your speed drops to 0.5 :o

Yes but if they can do everything melle classes can do then they can wear all the armour, rings etc with plus speed stats.
This will make them unbalanced which we don't want.

graaliholic 02-18-2003 04:16 AM

Maybe you've never seen a mage in heavy armor, but it slows them down alot and it fumbles most of their spells :o and MAGES being better and making it unblanced that way? hah its never going to happen again :\

zell12 02-18-2003 04:23 AM

You guys complained SORCERERS were too strong because they cleared out the dungeon, now we are weak as hell, and the Barbs finally found out how to prepare weapons, they clear everything. We want it even again. Spells are way to small x.x And things like cause wounds should go over everything and everyone when targeted on someone. And if you don't target someone, it automatically targets the closest player/monster.

I like this idea :) But for higher level spells, it would start to become painful ;x

draco5432 02-18-2003 06:25 AM

No what sucks it, a non magic user can get a talisman for 360 (10 charm) and use magic, and magic user needs to pay like 600 sum to get melee weapons, and thats if they even learn it.

The smart casters make sure their int is up high...
Anyway... the spells were modded all wrong x.x they didn't need to just be made more damage... they needed to do more damage depending on magic level like icestorm and burning hands... except on a much higher curve... and the higher curve only applying to Sorcerors, Priests, and half for Alchemists

You have a point, im level 7 magic, and my magic bullet still does tiny damage, even with my sorc hat with +1 magic, does little damage.

zell12 02-18-2003 01:53 PM

That is just sp regain...

TeRRi2k 02-18-2003 02:44 PM

i dont think magic bullet is supposed to do that much dmg anyway o.O or maybe your magic level isn't that high yet..im lvl 10 magic and can kill a skel in 5 bullets around

MasterNuke 02-18-2003 11:31 PM

BTW... anything in the armor slot makes you regen SP slower... even if it doesn't say

zell12 02-19-2003 01:33 AM

You mean anything with enchant armour? o.O or armour + whatever or ac + whatever

ANY form of ANY kind of armor, excluding the hat, and maybe rings + amulet too.

Juron Pilo 02-19-2003 08:55 AM

Thanks, I didn't know that. That's rather helpful. :)

TeRRi2k 02-20-2003 02:45 PM

it makes sense ;x but i never knew since i never thought about it.. and because my SP regen was basically the same through out..
maybe not rings, would be weird since someone could be wearing a ring magic + 2 :)

Kinatt 02-20-2003 05:32 PM

I need a manual that explains this stuff.. so I don't figure it out too late when it's not suppose to be a secret. If it was suppose to be a secret then I guess the cat's out of the bag
