lets be realistic
Ok well yesterday i was happily running around killin things when i died (sad story eh!)
Well i noticed that not only did i loose exp but i lost Stat points as well.. Lets be honest here loosing exp can be damaging enough but to loose 2 points on a stat atribute when there is no way to gain that point back unless you have loads of money???!!! The odds are already stacked against you why make it that much harder? What do we all tihnk on the topic? remove the stat loss? |
What do you mean, loads of money? all you need is to be able to pray...and that's free if you start with piety, or start as a priest. And if not, then you can buy it for a mere 600 plat, I know 600 plat is a lot for newbs (though newbs steal items from other players' kills so often, I don't see how it's possible....) Anyway, if I were you, I'd train till level 3 or 4 by killing shell bomys, and then go into a dungeon and take on gloks, and later the smoky clan. If you started as a mage, you have it easy, cuz you can kill those monsters with no fear of getting killed. And if you started as a warrior, you should do what I did, get a talisman, learn a few spells, and use them to kill monsters, or weaken them so you can kill monsters with your weapon.
|
Newbies tend to NOT have piety or woodsman, in which case they have to make up 600p with unidentified organs. The going rate for unidentified organs is 5p a heart and 3p a liver, so that's 120 hearts or 200 livers.
*BEATS YOU SAVAGELY WITH THE CLUEHAMMER* NOT CHEAP! |
Do you know how I made all my money when I started? Making arrows!! That's right, and it doesn't take long, either, I just get a bunch of tree seeds, plant em, cut em down, make arrows, sell them, it takes absolutely no exp whatsoever, and getting the tools you need might take less than 10 minutes.
|
omg I am siding with this guy
stat loss is dumb should be removed. End of Story! |
yes, it would help...but if you're on peaceful, and die in a dungeon, you lose no [edit]stats[/edit]...

oops, sorry, I meant to say stats...*edits*

What's the going rate for arrows? 10p for 100? I never got that kinda money for it, but let's pretend that's the state of things.
5 arrows per board, 5 boards per log, say a minute on average per board counting digging, planting, waiting, chopping, running it through the mill, running to the arrow shop and crafting, allowing for that the player's probably doing several trees at once to stagger out the waiting...that's 5 arrows a minute. 20 minutes for 10 plats. 660 plats = 66 times that, so 66*20=1320 minutes=22 HOURS! *BEATS YOU SAVAGELY WITH THE WARHAMMER OF CLUE* NOT EASY!!! |
15 arrows per board Tyhm
And you can get a load of seeds from treasure sights, people leave them there. But still, I agree stat loss = Bad |
1500 arrows=roughly 70 plat
I'm seriously starting to think Tyhm likes beating me to a pulp with a warhammer... |
There's a few possibilities...Either everyone should be able to pray to restore lost stats, (but without gaining the ability to bless weapons or cast prayers unless you have the piety skill), the price on potions of life should be lowered, or do something different, like if someone lies in bed for a long time, they eventually restore lost stats.

Yeah, I miss my Shotgun of Justice. That was a generous estimate, but here's the new numbers. 15 arrows per board, 1500 arrows = 70p, and let's say an average of 30 seconds per board now - I'll personally be amazed if anyone under any circumstances can grow a tree/several trees, chop it/them down, mill it/them into boards and turn them into arrows in under 30 seconds average, but whatever. 30 seconds makes 1 board makes 15 arrows, *100 and 3,000 seconds makes 100 boards makes 1500 arrows makes 70p. So 660p=14143 arrows = 943 boards = 28286 seconds = 471 minutes = 8 hours. Still not easy.
I say give priests the power to grant forgiveness/atonement to those who need it, and have the process give experience to both parties. Voila, you have priests doing good deeds for free and happy newbies looking for a priest when things go wrong instead of getting all torch-and-pitchfork on the administration. |
Priests would need to be high leveled in wisdom to atone then, it'd make more sense, because god would favor the more worthy to atone others for their mistakes.
|
Not too wild about the strong becoming stronger. Ideally, priests would have a way to gain levels that had nothing whatsoever to do with killing things. Partying up works to some extent, but they should get grace experience for healing. It's being a good priest, we should reward that, not penalize for it!

Ok, I don't think its right that people should reach L20 and be unstoppable. Or because they join a kingdom, that kingdom becomes powerful and destroy everyone else. The power of the kingdom should come with many people not just one person. I figured, if we only had 3 levels and to reach each level would take millions of exp. So now, we can have armies that WORK and not just one guy taking an army out because his level 15 or higher. This would bring the focus o f the game more into role playing and in a way would kinda take us back to G2k1 where no one is God-like and can’t be defeated. Everything else would be the same. And come on, lets fix the classes already. Barbarians shouldn't be able to be heavy users of magic or wear allot of armor like a Knight would. This are nomadic warriors not Knights in shiny armor, heck even the little picture figure you get when you pick you class represents this idea.

Levels basically do crap anyway. It's all IWDs.

i thank yo all for the reply's.
I lost the stats whilst in the dungeon i beleive. The levels i think should saty as it gives people targets, when the big reset comes it wil all be balanced for a while untill the people that work hard on their character get higher levels. But still the stat loss and loss of exp is still to great. Points can be gained but the potions are really too cheap. i mean i had 12k plat at one stage (thanks to malor) and i oculd have brought loads and my stats would have gone out fo this world. |

3 Levels? Nah
Stefan has already coppied every other MMORPG with this horrendous leveling up system, why copy them even more by only haveing 3 levels?
And about level 25 gods killing people in RP's, well, back in real Medival times, someone like that was there too. It's someone who is extremly skilled in swordsplay, and is capable of wipping the floor with just about anyway. So in order to take that person down (Usualy a general) the opposing side would have a group of knights, not just one, charge in, and gang up on him, takeing him down. It doesen't ruin the RP feeling, it makes it have more stratagie. In 2K1, everyone was even, there was really no stratagie involved in the battles, simply charge and PK. In 2K2, higher level characters require more stratagie to beat. You may need a number of soldiers to take one down, instead of just using one character charge and kill him. If you hate getting killed so much in RP's by a level 25 character, then you should start leveling up just like he did, and help your kingdom our by being high leveled too! |
You make no sence at all and don't follow his point, so i'm not even going to explain. And you said there was no stratagie on graal2001. If everyone was equal and just stood there slashing, who would win? There was stratagie involved nub.

You don't have to be in bmode. it will just take you alittle more time.
|
Not a little more time, alot more time. And as long as you are in pmode, the level 20s ae in bmode, once you get to that level on pmode, the bmode people will be at level 30 :(
|
no more stat /exp loss if u didnt no k?
just updating |
you drop items though, k?
|
Money first, then items of value up to 4*level pp. Equipped items and items of great value are not dropped.
|
Will I drop my sacks? cuz if I do, someone is gonna die. And it won't be someone's character in the game. I have sentimental value in them (cuz a friend gave me them), and they're really useful :(
