Light effects fry showtext

On GraalKingdoms any light or transparency effects cause all text not to show up. Completely disappears. Not yet tested elsewhere. I am using 16-bit color

Stats:
Windows XP with all of latest updates
Intel Pentium IV 2.4 GHz
128MB ATI Radeon 9700 Pro with Catalyst 3.1 drivers
512MB RAM
Soundblaster Live
DirectX 9
