House Password/Password House?

Like we buy something that we tell it a password. It should cost like 5-150 plats though. So if someone steals our key then they won't be able to open the door if you have the Password thing enabled. So then that means no one can break into our house.

I support this idea very very very very much. Although I can't say why :(

JrTerrorist 02-05-2003 08:33 AM

Sounds good, BUT!
Someone could sell someone a house and then have that password thingy so they kinda made leik 200 plat and keep their house o.o

Tyhm 02-06-2003 12:09 AM

And it seems it would be easier to steal a password than a key...

kenyonandelliot 02-06-2003 01:24 AM

Wouldn't it be harder to take a password you make up? Also I think there should be something that you say 'trade house to manaska for 200'

Then he accepts it then they trade house and it gives them a random password and the password changes to the password though you can still change it again.

Tyhm 02-06-2003 01:47 AM

Because you have to say it to get in, meaning it's visible to all however briefly...whereas people get your key how?

AlexH 02-06-2003 01:50 AM

Why not just make it so you need both.
Or like the houses on Graal Bomy Moon where you can stop people from getting in all together or just ban certain people from getting in.
Those houses worked pretty well.

JrTerrorist 02-06-2003 07:33 AM

Pretty Well, IT MUST BE PERFECT

Thats a good idea. Saying something like /lock zormitehouse 22 or something like that. Then /unlock zormitehouse 22 then it will be unlocked for you can get in. Also to specify the account name it can act like it right clicks the house and gets the account name for the house so you know if you can lock it. Then you have to hold onto the key to unlock it.

If you drop your key and someone gets it, you aint going to get it back =x.

So what's the point in a password if you cant even enter your house?

kenyonandelliot 02-06-2003 04:49 PM

I agree with Zurk. It is a good idea to lock it but what if you lose your key? They can be able to go in there anyways and not either of those things will prevent them.

I might be wrong but if a house is passworded then the person who took the key from you cant get in either correct?
meaining that the house will be in your name and for that you can make a new key for it

You cant make a key without the master.

busyrobot 02-07-2003 01:00 AM

How about Kingdoms having a rank -locksmithing right, who has the right to change locks, and turn 1 iron into a new master key?

All keychanges would need to be logged (I think the use of ALL rank rights should get in a log, whenever someone recruits it is log so-and-so added such-and-such, but that's another rant).

Then someone can come and cry to the king or whoever, "so and so stole my key!" and they can see that the account name matches the house owner's name, and viola, new master key.

Also, I think you should be able to buy two types of magical furnature:

Statue of Observing: That logs,
so-and so entered [datetimestamp],
so-and so disconnected [datetimestamp], -- for pop-back theives
so-and so reconnected [datetimestamp],
so-and so left [datetimestamp],
so-and so dropped [qty] such and such stuff [datetimestamp],
so-and so picked up [qty] such and such stuff [datetimestamp],

and print it to the RP window (or would be nice to be able to redirect it to another player as proof of a theft, to prove no copy/edit occured)

The second is a Statue/golem of Slaughter any *$#!@ thieving scum that dares take ANYTHING.

The later would be good fun at parties, when a guest tries to help them selves to the cheese dip.

host: "No golem! No! Down boy! Down!"

(A pharaohs curse-after-death like thing would be nice too for plunderers, as death is such a light consequence in graal.
I say for 10 days they are followed by a golem if they steal corn seeds)

Make it so that when you say
"add master key" It gets added to the account who is titled on the house.

JrTerrorist 02-07-2003 07:03 AM

itd be better as "add master key owner" or something o.O

Yes you can.
The bognorian locksmith will re-produce any master key (Not duplicate the actuall master key)
I know this simply because i share a hour with Mista-Micro and we both have a master key to it and it was simple, i gave him my key so i didin't posses it, the house stayed in my name, i got the new key, both keys work, we can both moth things around and stuff.

So a new key can be made so long as the house is in your name
