Inqueries on armour, boots, & gauntlets.
Sent this to Stefan earlier, but I really need to know these answers as soon as possible. If anyone could help, please respond, either here, in PM, or on AIM. Thanks.

Also it would be nice for the boots to actual look like boots just not color ins of the shoes.
And the gloves make it so you can see knuckles. |

I just want to know how to set them as sprites. The only other way I can think of is to make them arms and legs, and have them replace the arms and legs like armor, but that would lead to problems with colour and skirts .. |
you'd have to use an attribute or parameter slot which is currently unused by EVERY g2k2 gani..and then yes, you'd have to edit all the g2k2 human ganis so they would support this new attribute.
To figure what would be needed to make sprites for boots or gloves accurately, you would need to model it after current bodies to make sure it would fit properly (and make enough sprites to fit over all the arm/leg sprite positions). Personally I think it would be easiest to add belt support, and you wouldnt need many sprites for that, probably like 8-9 only. I assume you know how to add individual sprites to the sprite list on the left, right? So no need to explain on that. |
The bottom right sprite is the 'dead body sprite'.
Adding new sprites is not so hard, you basicly need to take the human2_idle gani which contains all sprites and add the new things, then convert them into ATTACHSPRITEs (by removing them from the actual sprites position list and adding an ATTACHSPRITE line with the relative position to the body sprite). Those ATTACHSPRITE lines must be copied then to all animations. It is planned in the future to have some kind of include-gani command so that you can put common sprite definitions in one central file, that would of course make such things easier. I think for Graal Kingdoms that would be interesting for the amulets, other graphics would be too small. |
Gah, I just had a reply written out nicely, and I acidentally closed the window. Okay, I'll put down what I had again.
In reference to the body sprite, .. edit here. I figured out that it's the body kicking to the right, after looking at "human2_idle" (thanks for showing it to me, Stefan). Odd that it needs its own little sprite, but works for me. :) Gauntlets, in looking at your explanation, would not be a problem, it wouldn't be too much of a problem to put them over the arms. Boots wouldn't be as simple, because I'd have to find a way to put them over skirts/robes without them looking cruddy. That is, unless the game has a way to discern between the pants and robes. If so, then I could make seperate sprites .. but otherwise, eh. To Stefan, thanks for reminding me about amulets. I will be sure to make sprites for them as soon as I can. That'd look very cool. I suppose I'll make it for the blue and red dragon amulets (even though nearly everyone has neither :whatever: ), as well .. and maybe talisman, although you usually don't wear it. Heh, I added in a few things here and there since I first wrote. Oh well. Thanks for your help, this will be help for me a lot. Expect to see gauntlet sprites soon, hopefully .. and maybe some other things as well. Oh, I just thought of this! Would it be possible to extend the image for the battle axe type weapons so they could have proper north and south images for when you slam them down? .. because as it is, using only 16 sprites, you basically slam down the side of the weapon, instead of the head or blade of it. Now, this looks fine with the symmetrical ones (clubs and maces), but otherwise, it looks sort of silly (especially with the battle axe). My thoughts were to either extend the image to the right, or downward .. and in that extra room, put the sprites .. and then just redefine the battle axe sprite definitions to an extent .. would that work? Just a thought. Ah, and in looking over, a small addition here -- if one were to add in these sprites, the "human2_baxe_stab" would have to be changed, obviously .. it could probably be done a bit differently, as well, with the new sprites. Heh, well, I've got all the stuff I need for this on my laptop, so I can pretty much work on these things whenever. :p Oh, one final question. If I make things that are pretty decent, and I've tested for any flaws, and would fit into the Graalian world (the warhammer I made, for example .. I found that there were a few flaws, I fixed it, though, and it goes well now) .. where would I send it? .. or is posting here ample enough? Heh .. just curious. Ehr, well this turned out much longer than the original post .. but that's good. I'm glad I got all of my thoughts out, and I'm glad you all helped me. I think I understand it all now .. and if I don't, expect to hear from me again. ;) Thanks again. :D .. another edit! One last question. You said .. Quote:
