Idea to get more players...

Submit the game and let big gaming sites review them and alot of people will see it and maybe they'll try it out and then we would have like 100 players on g2k2 and it'll be more fun

ZORG1986 01-19-2003 10:03 PM

Graal has already been submited to some site whose name has been censored 3 times...and they are one of the best multiplayer gaming sites on the internet ;) but if they wanted the game reviewed then wouldnt that mean Stefan would have to give a free Gold account to the reviewers for them to come try it....and i cant see Stefan ever doing something like that

*advises you remove the link*

That site doesnt even give a real long review it just gives u like 1 sentence and a screenshot and I see bridbird and ghost pirate in the screenshot x.x

Googi 01-19-2003 10:22 PM

Maybe we could get everyone to vote for Graal so it got onto the top 10 games?

Why should the link be removed? Quite a few people are drawn to Graal by that site, myself included, and, as such, I think it's a bit unfair to disallow linking to it.

Well, there's a vote link on the main page, it just seems to send me to the main page though.

Well not discussing MMORPGs is against the rules.
Wouldn't posting a link with links to hundreds of other MMORPGs also be against the rules?
Me thinks so.

If it didn't generate traffic to Graal, certainly. But in this case, I don't think it's that clean-cut. I could be wrong, though. Supermods? A ruling, if you please. :) (By the way, neither of these posts were meant to pose any disrespect to you, Alex.)

If we can't talk about PSO, we can't talk about that site.

I think the best way to get more players is to MAKE GRAAL A BETTER GAME. 2 + 2 = 4. THINKING IS GOOD FOR YOU.

Maybe Graal could somehow be listed at GameSpy On-Demand?

syltburk 01-20-2003 11:34 AM

I maded a thread about it before, graal is in the list of games in <link removed :(> , but we are there, just search after graal...

If we get it 10 top up there, we will get ALOT more people, thats one off the biggest game search engines on the internet where you vote for it.

I talked it over with Kaimetsu, and it was decided that the link needed to be removed. What can I say, rules are rules. :)

Locke_boy 01-22-2003 08:51 AM

Eh. I don't know if having a lot more players would be desirable. I dono.

By the way, I like Phantasy Star Online. I have a STAG CUTLERY, and a MONKEY KING BAR. I've gotten past level 100, too .. but I have a PINKAL ID so it's been something of a pain.

Oops, did I just discuss another MMORPG?

Kinatt 01-23-2003 08:14 PM

Good:

1. More playerbase meaning bigger line of communication
2. More money for Graal, which in turn gives:
a. Money for better servers.
b. Possibly Paid staff meaning better service
c. Faster updates

Bad:

1. More lag (could be solved with the money they get from more players)
2. More Hackers
3. More Manmanwannabies (people with 10 yr old mentality).
4. Mo' money, Mo' problems

Ugly:

1. Possible Price rise up to 10 dollars a month because of popularity.

I dont think more players will give mre communication, it may aid people who can give updates to give information more, but it wont just be a communication method if we got lots of people playing.

Whats the point in getting lots of money then giving it to people who are happy to work for nothing more than a TAG or RC. And like Unix said ''graal has always relaied on players for jobs'' so why ruin that and hire people?

c. Faster updates

Not for along time, as most people wont think about going into development for a while and if they do, they wont be too good at it

Bad:

1. More lag (could be solved with the money they get from more players)
2. More Hackers
Maybe but most peopel are serious enough now as they choose to upgrade atleast once

3. More Manmanwannabies (people with 10 yr old mentality).
Majority of players are like that so nothing new

4. Mo' money, Mo' problems

I think that more income would solve alot of problems, more PWs could go up as they would have more server space, they could afford to imploy people to work on other Graal projects

Ugly:

1. Possible Price rise up to 10 dollars a month because of popularity.

Graal is doing fine as it is, so why with lots of new players coming from gaming site(s) should they rise their prices to put people off? I dont think they would risk it, they would just leave it as it is.

Yes, and its people liek you that the Admins and MODs get annoyed at, rules are rules, its not funny to break them, they are set for certain reasons and shouldn't be broken, So dont think its funny, because yes you broke a rule, and you should be punished.

HI IDIOT PSO IS NOT AN MMORPG

Kinatt 01-23-2003 11:36 PM

We both have different opinions spark. Some of the stuff your basing your opinion on are circumstantial as are mine but both are different circumstances probably because if they were the same circumstances wed probably have the same view it's a broad subject that only Stefan and Unixmad probably know the answers to.. I was just saying my peice on what I think would happen.
