Warhammer .. complete?

Well, sort of "threw" this together over the past hour or two .. maybe longer? Hahah, I don't know. Didn't keep track. Anyway .. I know some people were wanting to see a warhammer (like myself) .. so I made one. Opinions .. questions .. suggestions .. comments .. all welcome. If it's good enough, I hope it gets added. It'd be cool seeing people running around smashing baddies with a weapon I made .. a warhammer at that! :)

Loriel 01-18-2003 12:03 PM

You should make it a little more 3dish :O
NPC Code:

_____

/____/ |
| | /
|____|/

Also, it needs some different sprites for swinging horicontally and vertically :)

I get the first part of course, I can do that. :)

.. but what do you mean about the sprites? I may not be getting it because I just woke up, but I may as well be sure .. :o

Loriel 01-18-2003 05:03 PM

Your current sprites look as if you could only swing that hammer in one level - only horicontally. I think it needs some sprites for vertical attacks.

aylad 01-18-2003 05:38 PM

The hammer looks great, but to (perhaps) clarify what Loriel is saying: you have the sprites drawn so that when playerdir == 0 or 2, the player will be swinging the hammer side to side like a sword. But the hammer is massive! (the reason it looks great) Anything that heavy, swung that way, is gonna spin the player around in a circle while his hammer and forearms go flying off in some random direction. :D

I'm picturing a vertical swing. For playerdir == 1 and 3, your sprites look great for that (although a bit more 3d would be cool). For north and south, you might want to edit them a wee bit.

However, gfx rating = 10/10

Rax 01-18-2003 06:32 PM

you should use the axe sprite as template

Zurkiba 01-18-2003 07:17 PM

War Hammers dont look like hammers =x

They are like the average tool hammer

You know the ball end, then on it's opposite there is a spike. And on the top of that... there is another spike.

Yes, I know .. but those are too small for my tastes .. I like the WCIII style of warhammers more. Hoorah for Dwarves, y'know? :)

You sort of .. ehr .. confused me. I'm a complete newb when it comes to scripting and any techinal terms. All I know is "If such and such; Then so and so; EndIf blah and blah" .. so .. yeah. Playerdir? What exactly do you mean? I apologize for my ignorance in this field. :o

[edit]I get what you're saying .. but the only problem is this: for north and south, doesn't the gani use the same sprite for both the swing and the slam? That would prove to be a problem, if so. :\[/edit]

Front and back views, is what they are talking about.

Yes .. but .. with the amount of sprites that the battle axe type weapon uses, there's no room for front and back views. I'd have to redo it or something.. :o

That's like a two handed weapon o.o

But what you're drawing is a block of wood on a stick XD

MasterNuke 01-19-2003 03:47 AM

looks like a Dwarven Warmallet... not a warhammer... warhammers are like normal hammers... except the head is a bit larger and umm... yea you need to plan before you make the sprites.... dont just draw them and expect them to get in..... certain views of the weapon has to be made....

Paradiesapfel 01-19-2003 04:10 AM

Will the weapon comes up?

That's metal. -_-

[edit].. it is a two-handed weapon. Look at someone using a battle axe or war axe or any such thing. They use two hands to attack. :o[/edit]

Pardon me, I'm not perfect. :o

I did plan. I always use paper first ... Look, I used the battle axe as a template .. I didn't just throw this together. -_-;

Do you know how much Iron it'd take to make a block that size? Alot.

And the Dwarven Warmallets were made of wood o.o

Grargh. This is my warhammer. It's made of metal. I made it by what I would have liked it to be. Besides, take a look at the Mountain King in Warcraft III. That's where I, generally, got the idea in the first place. That's a metal warhammer. :o

Prolly since I made the head metal and black.
Other then that it strikes no real resemblance, the mario bros hammer was just a cylinder sitting on a plank of wood. If the head on your hammer was black Locke yours would look more like it then mine.

I want that hammer. Now. It is mine. Now.

Just make sure it weighs no more then 20 kg >.<

Kinatt 01-21-2003 05:53 PM

Head is very good but handle is too dark it competes with the head.
My constructive critisizm but who the hell am I to say that I can't even spell critisizm right..
