THE most brilliant exp idea ever
I came up with this really crazy idea in my head earlier... I thought "why not base the experience lost off the monster and not the player" why not say make the exp lost for dieing say..... maybe 10x to 20x the experience gained by killing the monster? or something like that anyways. Everybody dies eventually and as you get higher and higher in level you start to loose ALOT of exp for dieing as it is? THIS way you might stand a chance of actually getting HIGHER than say level 10 or 11... x.x

What's the difference? Enumeration:
Low-level player is killed by a low-level monster. Player loses low amount of experience. No changes. Low-level player is killed by a high-level monster. Player loses huge amounts of experience for making one mistake. High-level player is killed by a low-level monster. Player loses low amount of experience despite making a really stupid mistake. High-level player is killed by a high-level monster. Situation is same as current system. The only changes I can see are negative ones :\ |
uh no... the monster detirmines the exp loss..
my sytem low exp player and high exp player LOOSE THE SAME AMOUNT CUZ WERE DECIDING BY THE EXP OBTAINED FROM THE MONSTER(well the base exp, monsters do give less and less exp as you level x.x)... the point is it will get rid of this exp cap we seem to have cuz we gain exp so freaking slow and despite that our stats are such that were working hard just to stay alive... |

no... I listened... I just missed the point cuz you didn't mark it very well
I suppose the low vs high thing would turn out pretty bad... bah the real way to do exp I suppose would be to base it on the exp tnl and give someone a block of exp to mount over before continuing... IOW person has to get 5000 exp before they can continue gaining exp for that level... I forget wha they call it on asheron's call... you never loose a level... but your gonna have to work a ****load before you can continue... *sighs* its a cumulative effect bah |
Kaimetsu's post makes sense.. but I cant understand what Juron's trying to say..
|
why would low level player be going after high level monsters anyway??....

Y'all must have missed the 10,000 posts in the Information forum:
"I am a level-1 thief. Why do these cute little bitty monsters in the dungeons keep killing me? And what is that green stat bar that keeps going down?" Not such an unlikely occurrence. |
