Providence... Dead?
First off, I am resigning from my Providence position, Manager. Not only do I not have the time, but !Ghost would be a better Manager as he has proved time after time. Providence is his for the taking, this is what he has carefully devised for the public's viewing pleasure;
Some people seem to think we're dead, and are making absolutely no progress. However, this is far from true. We've made recent updates to the overworld (map included) and have made some very interesting plans. I'll start to discuss them.
"Oh great. ANOTHER roleplaying server," right? Wrong! We're not like Valikorlia or Graal2001. You're not stuck in some world with pre-defined classes for you to choose. You pick and make your character whatever you want to be (there will be boundaries of course, but only if there is a lack of scripting talent to make it possible...) You're going to either have to: follow the main quests (gain hearts and such,) or you can do sidequests (gain skills.) Doing both IS possible, it's all your choice. We're going to add a wide variety of stuff.
We plan on tying in the elements of single player roleplaying and involving them in a massively multiplayer roleplaying world. What this means is, doing quests with yourself is possible, and Roleplaying and interacting with other npcs is possible as well. However, if you wish, you may form kingdoms, groups, tribes, whatever you like. Group-roleplaying is not going to be enforced, for those of you who don't want to join into those groups who do crazy things, or whatever.
General Overworld overview
The overworld is huge, yes (picture attatched), but we don't plan on filling the entire thing up to start off. We are going to limit the players to three of four islands (there WILL be plenty of things to do, and land to explore,) and then work in the tree-areas (see map) and make RP events allowing the players to discover them. Contests and/or events will be held to allow a certain player and/or group to claim the land, and govern that town/city.
-For example,
Blahblah (player) wins an event for the "Mayorship" of an unknown town. Two days later, a RP event is held, and that person gets to be mayor of the town/city. A Mayor-system has not yet been scripted, but we have the ideas. Now, to get staff to script them...
Questing...
I believe that it will set a new standard for questing. I'm not going to get in-depth (or discuss it because of possible theft *cough*), but look out for new things when the playerworld is public again. I can almost guarantee you will like them.
Staff...
Our levels are coming along fine, and we have a decent starting system NPC, however, we still need NPC and Graphic talent. Why work for us, you ask? We're not some half-bit playerworld that's going to go away in a week. We're not going to waste your time, and we're going to consider your ideas and implement them as well as possible. We ask that you use creativity as well as listen to us and work efficiently when we ask you to. It's going to be a rough start, but in the end it will be well worth it. NPC scripters and Graphic Makers...Log onto providence (go to the little drop down menu in your playerworld list, and type "prov" and go there to log on) and speak with !Ghost. We're not currently looking for Level Makers, because !Ghost has all of the levels planned, and his style is very nice.
We work in the utmost confidentiality, so we ask of you to not have a playerworld job while working with us. Our ideas are considered sacred and will set new standards for all playerworlds to follow. Staff who came up with the concepts and scripted/made them should get all of the credit, instead of having some other half-bit playerworld taking the ideas due to faulty staff.
So, that concludes the update for now. We'll keep in touch, and we hope to see you on Providence after our Release.
Oh yes, any questions, ask them here.
