Diagonal Ship Movements

Being able to go diagonal would really improve alot of things like moving around weird coast formations, etc

It is a good idea, but I hope it isn't on the to-do list right now. I'd rather see new monsters, new weapons/armour, and more spell animations before diagonal ship movement. Just my opinion.

Maybe someone who knows can answer this:

I say they need to make actual ship turning, that like, uses one ship gfx and rotates it. It'll rotate the people as they turn, but it would be cool if you could make smooth turning like that. And, instead of hitting right or left, etc, you steer with left and right. Don't know if that would be considered "easy" to script, I'm just sayin'.

You mean like have 1 ship.png and rotate the pic? If that's what you meant, that wouldn't work..... if you don't know why, take one of the existing ship graphics and rotate it 90 degrees, see how ugly it looks then......

?-- Probably I misunderstood what you're saying, if so, sry. I'm very very tired right now.

True, true. And yes, you understood what I said. But I'm saying to remake the ships a bit so it's all an top-down view, first, so it doesn't look all messed up =x

Yeah, that would be a decent solution, except that the perspective wouldn't really fit with Graal. Hmm..... you could get smaller file size by having the deck image rotate, and having sprites only for the sides of the hull..... don't know how laggy that would be though. Wouldn't be as smooth as what you're saying either. Of course, rotating images is just hypothetical anyway, it isn't supported yet, is it?

Don't think so. But, it would be cool if someone made that possible in Graalshop or scripts. Rotating stuff in movie ganis would be handyy.

For now why not just make it look like the movement right sprite except it is actually moving north-east instead of just east.
Just like the player sprites.

That would be the easiest way of doing it.... almost realistic, too; I think ships actually do that sometimes. Might be wrong, though, I'm no expert.

That, and it would be nice if they make steering involve hitting left and right, instead of hitting up and it instantly switches the boat upward at light speed.

Yeah, definitely. This would greatly change naval tactics... :D

I like the idea. That'd be nice.
