Volcano tiling

1 Attachment(s)
I searched this forum, but didn't find useful things concerning volcano tiling.

I am going to make the Big City volcano on Graal The Adventure and I'd like to have some advice in what to improve.

I attached an example level.

In the bottom right are stairs to a lower level, in the top right stairs to an higher level.

I am not very experienced with volcano tiling so I'd like some suggestions about how to improve it.

I know it is common to rate a level here. You are welcome to do so with my example, but please explain why you rated it this way (But something like "It sucks" doesn't explain anything).

Dont use volcano cliff it looks aful, if you do only around edges.

Well that was a big help...:o

Anyways, here's an example of a lava level. There was an old 2k1 project that fell through and I doubt will ever be used, but I couldn't find those levels so I simply made another one quick to show you since I think it's a good lava level. A lot of people think that since it's lava, it can't be done nicely, and obviously they're wrong. You're off to a good start definately, take a look at the attachment for some more help on some of the tiling. Mmmmkay helped me with lava levels a while back and now I hope to help you :).

:( Nice level Waltz. Lol.

Com's...
In my experience the Lava Tiles were never complete.. Infact, when I make things I fill the Lava section up completely with custom tiles.. Those who can make a nice level using the lava section are great. If you can, good for you; and theres no sarcasm in that. Com, If I were you I would figure out a way to use the other tiles in the lava aswell; Maybe a backpal might work. Not sure.. X_x Good luck..

So you are basically telling me to remove my whole level? I am next to only using cliffs in that level.

At the first look I thought the level was overloaded with details, but I like the red patch on the ground. I have got to try the gray big stones, too. I never noticed them, but it actually looks good in your example.
I haven't included lava in my example, I'll try to use the same style like I am usually using for water in mines. I'll post an example later.

We are sometimes doing so for Graal The Adventure, too.
There are the tiles for the inside of trees and an extension for the ice castle (used in the Zorbi Castle).
However, there are the lava caves and the Big City volcano and those need volcano tiles.

I think it was mmmmkay that made an awsome lava tiled level. I'd have to search for it though. These tiles should re remake :)

Com, may I suggest that you use tiledefs to replace the standard tiles with some new volcano tiles around big city? The current volcano tiles are not really usable :/

Yes it was, and that one up there was for the same project, so they look sort of similar.

Also, try making your own probably, the tiles are feasible, but not the best.
