Take down house repairing!

Fact: Having to repair your house is extrremly annoying. Not everyone has the opportunity to spend around 10-15 minutes a day simply keeping their house from destroying. A house they worked hours and hours on.

Fact: House repairing does NOTHING to prevent a overflow of houses. There will never be an overflow, as there will never be anyone who will be willing to spend 6-8 hours on a house just to make more after.

Fact: If not taking the system away at all, making it so money repairs it (charging rent) is just as effective and uses a currency everyone has. 10 platinum a week is a fair price.

No, I think houses should still lose their constitution.

I have a house on my island I want to get rid of. It's been there for about 3 weeks, and it's at 30%. Come on, if you don't have one opportunity in 3 weeks to repair a house, you don't deserve one

Brad 11-14-2002 07:09 AM

we have to repair one?

oops i havent checked my empty house for a while

AlexH 11-14-2002 07:20 AM

It takes ages for your house constitution to get to 0% and it doesn't require too much work to get it back up to 100% so it should stay.

BlKnight 11-14-2002 07:31 AM

It takes about 2-3 hours worth of wortk every 4 weeks to keep the hosue up to standard. If you want a way to destroy a hosue than have it an option not the requirnment to spend time on a hosue that you worked hours on every month.

Take out house constitution and put in natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, tornados, etc... That would really drive people crazy :D

You just destroyed your own argument. Two to three hours EVERY FOUR WEEKS! That's nothing at all. Every month you must sacrifice two hours .. that's not very much of a tragedy. You could even spread the time out, and just spend a few minutes every few days instead. Either way .. your point is gone ..

Yes and to fully repair a house you only need 30% of the supplies you need for building a new house, automatic repairing by some npc or player service could be interesting though,
something which can also be interesting for other things
(on some billboard you write 'repair my house, 50 plats', then a player can take the paper and do the work)

yeah!

BlKnight 11-15-2002 04:07 AM

So what? It's still alot of time. I see that only people who spend hours and hours a day on are for house repairing.

I don't know about you, but there are some things I would like to spend 2-3 hours on other than mindless and endless minning carving blacksmithing and travelling. Like maybe work? Friends? 2-3 hours a month on something THAT SERVES NO PURPOSE is not "fine". My arguemnt was not destroyed Locke, BECAUSE ONLY YOU THINK THaT 3 HOURS OF MINDLESS LABOUR IS OK!

Well, how about including both! Say you go to a store and say a price you are willign to pay per 2% fix. Than you pay 100% worth for a sign you palce next toy our hosue. And anyone can go to your hosue and repair it for you and the sign automatically gives them the money you ahve assigned.

If there wasn't house repairing.... we would have very crowded kingdom islands where most of the houses are just abandoned.

That's only if you have a stupid king, smart kings won't allow overfloodage (is that even a word?) of houses..The kings allow people to build houses they can't just build freely anywhere on the island. So if the king thinks there is too many he will just stop letting people build them.

zell12 11-15-2002 04:44 AM

Choose:
Houses have unlimited constitution, but can be destroyed. (When destroyed, all contents in the house are added to the Owners inventory)
Houses cannot be destroyed but lose constitution.

There is a problem with that. Like every day at least 4 or 5 people ask for me to build a house on the island. By now I'm telling them "No, I can't let you build because we have an overflow or because you aren't in the kingdom." So, being some poorly grammatical people that they are, they go "omg pliz then i wnat 2 be in ur kingdume for teh huzes plz let me join ur guild." That is what they literally say! I don't want someone like that who cannot role-play joining my kingdom! There you go, I've just deprived a paying Graal gold member the ability to join a kingdom to role-play, and to have another feature in the game (have a house). Does stefan really want that? I'm sure they'd be complaints.

Secondly, lots of people for no reason at all, decide to abandon their house after a week or so and build a new one. That bothers me. I have at least 3 decaying houses I know of on my island that I wish would just fall over and finish right now yet I have to wait for it to decay. Decaying is a long long process, it happens after a month I think. I can't just delete the house, I have to keep it there, or spend my own time moving it to somewhere where people will just forget about it.

I hope Stefan can ellaborate on this. I don't want people building on my kingdom island because they just want to leech, yet I have to let them build to some extent because it's not fair if any kingdom member won't let them build because they paid to enjoy the same thing every role-playing customer does, whether we like it or not.

BlKnight 11-15-2002 06:12 AM

Nobody will buidl several hosues, and if each person ahs 1 house there is still tons of room.

BlKnight 11-15-2002 06:19 AM

Why not a better and more effective way of house-population-control. Add a house destroyer npc, and make it so you can only have one hosue at a time.

Oy, you don't need to throw a hissy fit over it. I'm not using those words; personally I would spend at most 30 minutes a week working on repairing the house, and that would be all. That would probably be enough to keep the house in fine shape.

Selzar 11-15-2002 08:50 AM

ugh

just because stefan thinks its a good idea, he wont ever add it maybe like in a year he'll actually listen to our suggestions
