Thieves and skills.

Thieves are still way too pitiful. I like that they get speed, and i think charm..but come on...they should be able to pick locks, doors and chests, and barrels, and boxes...owners of houses can protect their stuff by having guard pets, the food and water bowl could last about a day or two irl and would need 1 meat and 10 water to refil...that and heavier locks, and magic protecting spells...for a sucessfull pick, they should get 100 or so mental exp... The reason this isnt in suggestions is that i want people to vote on it.

Oh, also..since lockable ports are going to come along soon...picking port lock chains...((hopefully a docked boat will be much harder to kill...or impossible))

dave88 11-12-2002 01:10 AM

Hmmm..its a nice idea.....mayeb it will come out later...it will takes to much time now, maybe in a month or two?

MasterNuke 11-12-2002 01:12 AM

Well... promoting house theft aint exactly nifty tho....
but yes they do need improvement... but too little can be built on the name... i sudgesting a long time ago that it should be renamed to Rouge for versatility reasons...

Zach1 11-12-2002 01:13 AM

Nuke, thats because you're rich. The rich cant just be frigging invincable. Sorry.

edit: ok harsh. sorry. I like the rouge idea though. Stefan, hear that?

Zach1 11-12-2002 01:16 AM

Rouge..

If it were named rouge what other skills could it get to seperate them from their image, a crazy hobo with a sack and a knife?

Crovax_Dark_Lord 11-12-2002 01:18 AM

Then we'll have the thief rush of 2002 all over again... every poor guy will be scrambling to reset as a thief and will clamber over to the kingdom isles to spend hours clacking at the keys (similar to priests on altars) till they brake in and start raiding... have it so only certain levels, say 5 can use it, that way people would have to train to steal...

MasterNuke 11-12-2002 01:23 AM

Some things that a rouge can do...
throw pots... bombs... hit and run tactics... stealth... disarm/break enemy weapons.... poison weapons... dodge... riposite... parrying....

Zach1 11-12-2002 01:27 AM

Exactly, pretty much dirty fighting...((another idea from a different thread about ropes..))

Something to give Thiefs!... If you're a thief then you're a master of getting out of tight situtations, so what is a puny rope going to do? So you can use you're dagger to try and break loose. It takes some time but you can do it. But be warned, if you do this then a big ! appears over your head, warning everyone of your attempts.

Zach1 11-12-2002 01:29 AM

Also: TRAPS DARNIT!
Rouges should also be able to find/set/disarm traps!
nice ganis of a player hanging upside down from a tree...or pitfalls....with spikes? good for hunting as well...all of this goes to mental exp.

MasterNuke 11-12-2002 01:30 AM

*sees monsters falling in holes* *rolls eyes*

Zach1 11-12-2002 01:31 AM

During the night (if it ever comes) houses and trees should have shadows around them, in towns with guards (if they ever come)rouges should be able to hide from the guards in shafows after robbing say a town bank or somthing...

((also...pirates should get guards on ships who sail the sea around the island once this is done along with the normal guards...because most of the gmap mass is ocean...and gulf...

Zach1 11-12-2002 01:32 AM

bombs..rouges should be able to make them without the alchemist's talisman or skill....same with poisoned arrows, and blades....((everyone should be able to light an arrow on fire with a torch..but the trick is shooting it off before it sets the bow on fire =X))

zell12 11-12-2002 01:43 AM

Traps are basically rune of marking. You can place a spell in them and hide the rune. Then when a monster or perosn goes near it the spell is cast. You got a 1/10 chance of seeing it or something.

anUk 11-12-2002 02:16 AM

about rune of marking...how do you activate it?
and how do you get it to work>

Re: Thieves and skills.

Yes. Yes yes yes yes.

Thieves need something to set them apart. Yeah .. and the only advantages thieves get are dexterity and intelligence. They lose more charme than Barbarians (-3 as compared to -2).

I have my stealing skill bound to S, so I use it when I attack, but that rarely works as it is .. and at any rate, that's the only thing that seperates a thief from a warrior, basically.

My username .. where do you think that name came from? It's not a coincidence that I've decided to stay as a thief.

The problem is ... my thief character can't do even half of the things that Locke did. :\

DragonX 11-13-2002 02:51 AM

Just to clarify, it is 'rogue' not 'rouge' :)

Zach1 11-13-2002 03:51 AM

Thx Dx.
