new setfocus

setfocus2 level,x,y;

This could be VERY useful.

perhaps. it could have some uses. Maybe for liek security cameras. hehehe. Staff tools to monitor people in certain levels for trainers, etc.

yes.. so much easier than trying to display tiles around a player x.x plus, you'd have the advantage of seeing NPCs too (unless you're motivated to search for those too :P)

I like that idea, it would do what I had hoped setfocus would do, but I lost the string and my kite flew away...

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned before.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say is I'm a bit surprised things like this have been talked about but until now it's just being "noticed." I think it's a good idea. Useful too.

There are technical problems. First of all, the level would need to be loaded. It's not preloaded, obviously, to cut down on memory usage so there'd need to be some kind of complicated loaded level list available and manipulable by GScript. That'd lead to all kinds of memory leaks and bugs from bad player coding. Second, Graal's whole networking system would need to be modified to allow messages from other levels, chosen arbitrarily by the client. And third, splitting the player's presence across multiple levels would probably cause a great many, widely distributed assumptions in the code design to become nullified. We'd be looking at a lot of rewriting and potential exploits for what seems to me to be a barely useful command.

Just because you would have no use for it in your big projects doesn't make it not usefull. Heck, about half of the commands are useless on that sense. But the thing is, is that it would be used and people would like it. Whether or not it can be done is the question and if it can be done I'd like to have it.

Possible uses:
Spying on people
Spectating on events

Call me crazy but I think there'd really need to be more than that to make it worthwhile. Don't get me wrong, I think the command would have some uses and would be an improvement to Graal in general. I just don't think it's worth the amount of time and effort it'd need.

Just my suggestion. I have thought of many times that it would come to use, but hey thats just me.
