More hp :: fowns ::

level 10 104 hp

level up to 11 ..yay 106 hp

level up to 12 uh.. 108 hp? wtf!

what happend to me getting 20 hp every time! and i think it was Zen said same thing was with him, what the heck, its a shame that people with half my experiance or less have within 4hp of me, thats just not right >=\ heh

:grrr: ...

LordZen 10-30-2002 09:10 AM

yep i remember that, its pretty lame. Takes ALOT of work to get to lvl 12, yet only bonus you get from leveling your base level is HP...and last few levels I've only gotten 2 hp per level......gah its just not worth it.

A lot of work? Hahahah, yeah, going into T-Rex dungeon and just using Flaming Aura to gain over 1 mil exp, yeah that's REAL hard! Also if you want more HP why not try getting higher constitution?! If you have more constitution, you have more HP!

and might i add *narf* to that statment

MasterNuke 10-30-2002 10:40 AM

Its the same with sp x.x
level 9, 10, 11 magic
sp 71->73->75

ReaperJ 10-30-2002 12:02 PM

well my mana and grace have always sucked so i wouldnt notice (level 11 wisdom and only 11 grace) but my hp hasnt always sucked so why does it suck now! heh, thats a lot of exp we are getting..getting only 2 hp for it all just...seems not worth it, i wonder if there is a point where it jumps 50 hp or something somewhere down the line..or if it always sucks forever O_O

screen_name 10-30-2002 01:03 PM

70 hp (level 9 total)
75 sp (level 9 magic) (with 2 power+2 rings)
28 grace (level 8 wisdom) (with 2 power+2 rings)

TerrorBite 10-30-2002 01:08 PM

it seems as if this system isn't based on high levels.. this looks like a stat plateau X_x

Crovax_Dark_Lord 10-30-2002 02:01 PM

Don't you get an extra stat for every 6 levels? I noticed the 2 HP thing at the later levels... I'll just stop leveling when I get that extra stat... (till I've made my house...)

EliteDeath 10-30-2002 07:36 PM

I don't like how they've done the levelling up system too much and I especially dislike the HUGE losses in exp for dying. -KA

ReaperJ 10-30-2002 08:03 PM

yes more rewards for people who level up, it takes forever, heh

(and dotn forget us who have already leveld up ! *wink*) ;)

ReaperJ 10-31-2002 08:13 AM

Just lost in a spar to jordan . who has less than half my exp... you need to change how much hp you get per level up, this is pathetic,

or is this game really about how well you roll your stats when you start off? >=|

heh

heh

Maybe he is just better?

Juron Pilo 10-31-2002 10:19 AM

DragonX is inhuman... first flaming aura is near useless against T-Rex.... second the casting duration has been cut to 1/5

NOW it might be but what about before? I am sure TONS of people used it before it was weakened to level up to higher levels without any real "work". I saw ReaperJ in there with it, seems like it worked the same way as before just different GFX, he killed about 2-3 T-Rex with 1-2 castings, I don't think it has been altered THAT greatly unless Stefan changed it again within a day's time and I have no clue about it.

'

aaanndd you arent making any point because if what you say is true then the people with half my exp got that much exp too easily as well. so what i say still holds true.

or are you implying that only us level 12's have flaming aura the level 1 priest skill?

not to mention the fact i had to kill a **** load of crap (with out any spells at the time, pure warrior sweat and blood) to get the 600 plat way back when in order to get piety then pray forever to get the skill, its not like i just came with it

ReaperJ 10-31-2002 11:20 AM

Look i dont know if you realize this but with the current system,

you somehow roll your stats perfectly (probably impossible but you can get very close) 20 everything

then you level up to level 10, a meer 500,000 exp

you are now just as powerful as any level 20 or level 22 person out there? why? because according to what stefan said, after you get to higher levels, your supposed to level individual skill, such as mental, physical, ect ect, but by doing that, all you get is like a stat point for every few level ups, such as when i got level 9 physical i got 1 wc and 1 more damage,

but hell whats the point!?
I could have just rolled 1 more wc and one more damage when i started. A level 1 warrior could have 1 more wc and 1 more damage than me, the only thing that seperated a level 1 warrior from being the same as a level 10 warrior was that i had 14 hp at level 1 and 104 at level 10.

once you hit level 11 your hp just goes up 2. That one thing that seperated you from a level 1 warrior with perfect stats is now crap =P.

Soon that level 1 warrior reaches level 10, well he rolled better stats, but hey you are level 20 now, lets see you had 104 hp at level 10..it goes up 2...every level..so now you have 124 hp.... well this guy always had perfect stats so at level 10 he has 140 hp... dispite the fact youa are twice his level and have about 4x his experiance..and during this time you also leveled up individual skill levels and brought your stats all up to around 20, well he already rolled perfect stats when he started and has about 20 more hp than you so he will kick your ass at level 10 =P

anway you see what im saying? the way it is now, any **** who rolls good stats will own. Now your probably asking yourslef, well why the hell didnt you just roll better stats. Well, i figured they were good enough, and i didnt think that in higher levels the one thing that seperated me from a level 1 warrior would crap out at level 11 , heh

i seriously think this needs to be changed..

at level 12 with 17 con, you should have around 120 hp at least. thats all im saying heh =P and at level 20 you should have not 120 hp but 170 at least...

(sorry about the multiple post, wasnt thinkign heh but nobody posted but me anyway its like 11:17 PM)

now i sugget either giving more hp per level up, or more stat points for reaching an overall level of 11 or 12..
here is an example
http://dark.squinkles.com/stats.JPG

(actually my damage is supposed to be 21 in the first half)

the fact that someone rolles better stats than someone else should mean that, if they both have same exp, then he will be better..due to his better stats, but if one guy has twice his exp...then the guy who rolled better stats should not be as powerfull..untill they have the same exp...

O_O bla bla bla

tip of the day: dont bother leveling up past level 10

if you do anything , get money and buy stat increasing stuff

since you wont get crap from going over level 10

It's not that i rolled ****ty stats im complaining about, my stats arent bad, im complaining that they arent going up hardly at all anymore
ok i think ive repeted myself enough heh

Disagree... depending if you burn items or not.... fight monsters gives stuff to sell for money... as well as give exp... therefore... exp is somewhat proportional to money

ReaperJ 10-31-2002 07:25 PM

well yea but if your level 10, stick to skellys since they drop the best and dont waste time on Trex =P heh

Its like, even if you both rolled perfect stats, a level 10 would still face a fighting chance against a level 20..heh

TerrorBite 11-01-2002 03:49 PM

yeh, I also started focusing in the other skill areas, and building my character horizontally instead of complely vertical with just magic X_x. I mostly stay around the dungeons for the money, I have a saving plan to get the best ring and I should be able to reach it ^>^

Kaimetsu 11-01-2002 04:32 PM

The current HP system is too unforgiving. A random amount given per level? Then you're not in control, you're not the master of your character. You could do everything perfectly and still have poor stats. That's not how MMORPGs work. It's about time investment and reward. If the reward is taken out, why bother with the time investment?

Yes you should.

Graal still needs to take some skill.

Otherwise you would earn 100 HP and 10 of every stat each level to ensure that you could win over anyone lower.

What I mean is, I think that possibly who you were fighting was either lucky or had more skill.

I doubt that the reason he won was his stats (even at max strength max dex max constitution you can't beat someone twice your level without being skilled).

Does Graal have to be like all other mmorpgs?

I hate standard mmorpgs. Really hate everyone except for Graal. Do you know why? They they cloud the idea of them game, rping.

I'm not twice his level, im only level 12, he was level 10 =P im sure he had nice equipment and things, but what im saying is it takes 1,040,000 exp to get to level 12 and only 500,000 to get to level 10, thus a level 12 has twice the exp of a level 10 but does not have many more benifits...other than 2 more hp...heh

BlKnight 11-02-2002 04:23 AM

Well I agree that 2 hp isn't much.

It takes over twice as much killing to get from 11-12 than from 1-2, 203, 304, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, 10-11 combined.

No, but it shouldn't be so randomly punishing. Time investment and reward are the key to all addictive gaming. Pokémon, Everquest, The Sims, whatever. Always the same principle, and always the reward is clear. In Pokémon you might catch that last one or finally hit level 100. In Everquest you could ding 65 or grab that epic. In The Sims your character gets his/her promotion and you finish building your luxury floating disco house (personal experience). All are addictive games because they set goals for the player to follow, a path to follow them and a reward at the end. If the reward turns out to be a measly two extra HP then the player feels cheated.

The best player in the world should not have a chance of having the worst character in the world. Isn't skill rewarded anymore?

BlKnight 11-02-2002 07:22 PM

Skill has nothing to do with Graal anymore.

And level 12 is super hard to get to, really hard, (unless you use cheap methods) so i don't believe that you could have "The Worst Character in the World".

Besides, those games are not rping games, they are rpgs, but hardly any rping is involved.

In those games there are goals set, well here to, get a high level character to rp with. Than the "goals" are unlimited, be it taking over all the tax islands and having the biggest empire, or to suceed in your next conversion misson, etc.

ReaperJ 11-02-2002 07:53 PM

However taking things over and even starting some sort of business will rely on your personal strenght in this game, since there are no real laws to hinder anarchy. I cant wait till some of the wreckless jerks get to level 10 and are just as strong as everyone else..heh

Maybe so. That's why people make threads like this.

Blah, it's just an exaggeration. The point is that skill should be rewarded.

So? Does fair, non-random health remove all possibility of RPing? The anger and irritation of the players is not worth whatever roleplaying value it gives. There's enough variation on HP from the constitution stat anyway.

Those things don't appeal to everybody, and are certainly not attainable to most. Levelling is such a fundamental concept that it should be handled in such a way that it keeps people interested. Every levelup should be a happy event, not a heap of disappointment.
