P2P Idea, Graal Council - PLZ read!

as the majority of you may have noticed 2k1 has become very unpopulated due to the release of 2k2. classic is unlimited after u upgrade ur p2p as most of u know. i was thinking.....there's only one way which could greatly contribute to help bring back 2k1 to what it once was besides the reset. that one way is to make 2k1 unlimited for those who have paid for a gold subscription (40 buck/1 year subscription.) it won't harm graal financially considering they may not re-upgraded in the 1st place and not everyone has gold subscriptions. so rather than quitting and causing even a lower population than we currently have they would have an alternative server than classic to chose from. if they do re-upgrade they would just play 2k2.....again! so please make this idea a reality or atleast consider it.

note: classic is now known as graal the adventure, 2k1 is now graal bomy moon and 2k2 is now graal kingdoms for those of u if anyone at all are unaware of this.

AlexH 10-27-2002 08:03 AM

So basically what your saying is move Graal: Bomy Moon to the classic tab?

--Chris-- 10-27-2002 08:07 AM

no, keep it under the gold server section considering u have to have had a gold subscription in the 1st place =/ (do w/e u want, i just want it applied)

Googi 10-27-2002 08:11 AM

If you don't need a gold account to play it, then 2K1 isn't a gold server anymore, it's a classic server.

Jourdan 10-27-2002 08:12 AM

I think it should be moved under the classic tab. If people on trial can try out 2k1, I'm sure they'd love it and subscribe.
No use in keeping it under gold, no one is going to pay to play 2k1 after their account has expired....

Acererak 10-27-2002 08:15 AM

Thay would just bring new people in, we want theold people back too

--Chris-- 10-27-2002 08:16 AM

googi u need a gold account in order to get the unlimited but i dont care where it goes under cause the location under the tab won't affect the server much if at all.

AlexH 10-27-2002 08:34 AM

Okay I understand him.
What he's trying to say is if you have upgraded for gold before you have unlimited time to play Graal: Bomy Moon.
However classic players can't play on it as they have not had a gold account.

--Chris-- 10-27-2002 08:40 AM

correct alex =D
edit: not only a gold account but also a gold subscription (the one year one for 40 bucks)

No, a gold account and gold subscription are the same. A gold account requires you to have a gold subscription, when your gold subscription runs out, your account is no longer a gold account, but an unlimited (AKA Classic) account.

Acererak 10-27-2002 10:27 AM

He means that after your gold subscription runs out you can still play 2k1

konidias 10-27-2002 10:33 AM

We have something planned for 2k1. It will not go classic, it will stay gold, however, me and unixmad discussed doing something that would allow classic players to play on 2k1 periodically. (like a few hours a day, or 1-2 days out of the week) or something like that, to allow classic players a chance to play there.

Moving to classic server is a bad idea because gold members would be getting shafted out of a server that they continually pay to access. Then there is only one server that would have people needing to frequently upgrade, which would not be good for Graal's business end.

It's illogical anyway... it's like saying make Graal free and then lots of people would play. The goal isn't to have lots of people playing for free or a 1 time payment, the goal is to have lots of people paying often to play.

Why do you continue to fight even after you have lost, who do you think you are, me?

However, this shows that you aren't afraid to use your great (but still relativly useless, since true power isn't the ability to say control summon Googi, but to ask Googi to come to where you are, and Googi obeying) material power. That alone makes you better then the GMs of the past, however, deletion of playable bomys is still a bad idea.

You will be able to play as bomies, but they will not be a selectable race like they are now. Only morphing into them.

--Chris-- 10-27-2002 09:54 PM

i understand where ur coming from koni but ur wrong with the business part =/ like i said, make it only for the 1 year subscribers cause i guarantee you dude anyone that upgrades flies straight onto 2k2 and if they re-upgrade they would be going the same direction where-as if they couldn't re-upgrade they would play 2k1 and lets say after a few months they could afford it,its atleast a possibility they would continue playing 2k1 more than 2k2.

But it doesn't make sense. If 2k1 goes classic, only 2k2 will be gold. Meaning players would be paying 30 dollars or whatever for one server. No one would do that.

Hmm, that shouldn't really matter, morphing isn't terribly difficult, of course, I expect you're going to make morphing cost money, but that doesn't really change anything that much...

And unixmad is the boss of Stefan.

If Koni is discussing things directly with unixmad and unixmad has plans with Koni, then Stefan can't exactly intervene.

Yes, but the fact that playable bomys aren't getting deleted seems to imply that Unix didn't agree with Koni much more then Stefan is.

Yes, we all know how 2k1 compares to 2k2, and none of us are very happy about it. :\

But we can't go screwing modern economics just to get more people on the server.

That's not exactly what I'm referring to. I'm making more of a jab at your comment to Konidias about he and unix "planning things".

--Chris-- 10-28-2002 03:22 AM

1)it was the same price when it was just 2k1 alone.
2)the only other way that could possibly revive the server is the reset but at this rate i dont think its gonna make a big difference.
3) with such a low population you might aswell delete it than have it sitting there with no-one on it at all. (i would hate to see this happen.....)

maybe u could attract the players to it some how like make it unavailable for a certain period of time after or until the reset so people would be anxious to see/play it once again.
