A Serious Problem...
Hello,
I am writing this note to tell all who does not know already. I, Lord Trunkz am hereby quitting my staff position (Developer) here on Babylon. Most of you may be saying to yourselfs "Yeah! Sure! he's quit like 4 times already, hes gunna come back!" Buy guess what?! Im not! I AM NOT ONLY QUITTING BABYLON, BUT GRAAL TOO! There hasn't been a single day (except for going on vacation) that I have'n played graal and I am now realizeing it is an addiction...a Sick addiction at the least! Graal Has consumed my life and has lowered my selfesteem in the realworld. I have become a prisoner of my own room! I sometimes play for hours at a time without ever setting foot outside my room! I come home afterschool and go straight to the big grey box on my desk and play Graal, not knowing OR EVEN CAREING what's going on in the outside world... If any of you feel the same way as I do, I am urging you to get out while you still can! Graal (As well as many other Online Games) can be as addictive as Crack, Heroin, and tobacco believe it or not! You may not believe me but it is true... I would like to say Goodbye to all the friends I have made here. You were great friends, and I hope you don't get too addicted...like I have. Most of you maybe thinking that im joking about someparts of this, or that none of this is true what-so-ever, but it is... Farewell Graalians for I hope the next time I talk to you ISN'T threw Graal, but threw some other form of communication.... bye bye, Lord Trunkz |

:( This is why Self-control is very important....
Must... Control... Self... Must... Not... Become... Graal... Addict... |
All i'm asking is for you guys to pay attention to what you're doing, make sure ur not addicted cuz its hard to quit! I'm not trying to say "Don't Play Graal cuz its bad!" If you think you're not addicted, the goahaid and play, if you are, try to play less....
|
Jesus...
Graal is not as addictive as hard drugs. Don't be melodramatic. |
Just say no to drugs.

If you want to quit it you will, simple as that. |

Graal isnt addictive. Its good for small doses, ie. no more than 1 hour a day, but then it just gets boring. This year I have probably spent no more than 3 hours on Graal in a single week. Most of the time its less than that. The only exception being the week when 2002 was released and then it was still no more than 5 hours a week. I have yet to play an online game thats addictive. Even the ripoff $10 a month game is boring. The "allmighty" online RPG. I got the 30 day free account thing and didnt play it again after the first week. If you spend that much time on any game then, imo, you do need to do something else. But thats no reason to quit alltogether. Just dont go on as much. Limit yourself to a reasonable ammount of time. |
Graal is mentally addcive, but so are other online RPG games. I heard some guy killed himself because he own guild rejected him or something.
|
No game is to blame for these "addictions" the players make the decisions to play for hours on end. The guy you are talking about was some 25 year old socially inept man who sat in his room all day playing Everquest, and they think he killed himself when he lost his character or something.
I'm not addicted to Graal. I have many other things that I do with my time. I work for Graal, so yes, I would imagine I need to be on it a lot. But it all depends on the person playing. If you play Graal more than you do anything else, then you probably should make a schedule to follow so that you don't play as much. There is not really a way to be addicted. Drugs can affect your mind and body in order to make it think and act differently then you would like. However, you are in full control of Graal, you just decide that you want to be "addicted" and play it a lot. Needing Graal because you want to play it is a lot different then a crackhead needing a fix. These kind of "goodbye" posts happen all the time. I still crack up about the guy who talked about how he got a life because he quit Graal and rides on Jet Ski's waving at people. :p I think it's quite hilarious how people think they all the sudden have lives now that they have given up Graal, and how all the people still playing are lifeless zombies with no friends. |
seriosly
i think its the same way for me trunkz i played 3 hours yesterday and saturday 7 hrs 7 hrs is way to much i will probly change that now. this game is addicteve. |

Graal is only addictive to those who are withdrawn and lack self confidence in the real world. It is an escape to where they can 'hide' behind their comp and be masked by it , thus no one really knows who you are so you can fantasize about a person you would like to be in real life but because of your personality or lack of will power on the outside world you bury yourself in Graal. This is good and bad , it's good to fantasize as long as you keep it retrospective and not control your every free waking moments. No it's not good to play Graal for hours and hours on end , doing that in this game or any game will only make you a social misfit and withdrawn within yourself even more. As in anything from playing Games to drinking to whatever it MUST be done in moderation and not to excess.
Graal is not to blame here at all, but your own lack of self control , if you are one of these that 'cannot help yourself' then by all means QUIT, I am sure that Unixmad and Stefan are more interested in the well being of the players health than the lousy 39.00 they get from the game from you. Nothing is worth that , your health means more and after all you must always take care of number one (YOU). If you cannot play this Game without being "addicted" to it then by all means don't play. ;) |
I agree.
Lots of people are leaving to better themselves, their studies. Others like me will always be around. I do consider myself addicted in the fact i am ingame for many hours every day. But i take time out for me and my dreams too. I always said, the day Graal stops being fun, i'll quit. |
