Providence overworld, pick one
alright, these are the two overworlds that we are drawn between. so, we are letting the future Providence players make the executive decision!
Overworld A: huge map, i think there's over 800 levels. everything is jagged, and there's a ton of islands for exploring. the bad; it will take awhile to fill up and finish. Overworld B: smaller map, 400 levels exactly. it's more of a classic feel, it didn't turn out how i expected, really. there will be more detail along the coasts, mountains, and so on. the good; it won't take as long to finish and prep for release. please vote, thank you. this will be the world some of you may be playing later... so it makes all the difference. ~ Providence Staff |
B.
I don't like having to take long walks just to get from one area to the next. Don't want them to cloase together though. Classic is good, 2k1 is verging on long distance and 2k2 is :(. |

anyways, we'll have boats on Prov. so, um, you will be able to reach areas a little faster. hehe. |
Well after seeing the maps I prefer A.
Map B doesn't seem right for some reason. *changes vote* |
A. It looks so much better. B Is just ugly.

AAAAA!!

Neither appeal to me :/
|
A. Looks cool.
|
A- It is what providence should be, not small. BIG, because evenetually when managers stop giving up there will be so much to do. :)
|
hmph. i guess it's A then. *mumble mumble*
thanks everyone. |
lol
A is far better but it will take forever and that will suck
|
If I had to make a choice, probably A.
Really, you want large areas. Things shouldn't be easily reached by only going across 1-2 levels. It should take a good deal of walking to reach a new town or something. It may be frustrating, but it also allows for players to get attacked by monsters or by other players without a quick place to find refuge in ;) |
I personally prefer A.

this is going to be the new map, for anyone who cares;
|
B, because if you use A, it will take forever to finish it, if you ever do.
A would be nicer, but I would rather you go with B, so Providence gets completed quicker. |

And, when I play on an unfinished, gigantic world on some playerworld, I start exploring, and after wandering through the unfinished empty levels of that playerworld, I don't play it much, ever again. Maybe that's just me. Anyways, there is always room to develop, even if someone goes with a smaller map, other continents could be made, or the current one expanded. |
I helped do the generating equation. *cool points+++*

Nice Overworld.... Yeh... nice....
Starting over... again... :( |
It looks nice.
If you still have some blank levels when you release it, try and block it off with like trees or something. That's what 2001 did with snow town and the red trees. |

thanks everyone. we are going to add a bunch of trees to the mix, that way we can add places later and just build into the trees when that time comes. thanks wyand, for the idea. thanks mmmmkay for the level equation help. :P
here's the recent map. we are progressing along nicely... |
