Bows?/Crossbows
Shouldn't they be better? And more powerful? The longbow invented by the welsh could kill a fully armoured knight with one shot! Now im not saying that it should be that powerful, but could kill in say 4 or 5 shots. i mean, it really takes the fun outta bein an archer
|
Um, English made that one, Welsh were guerilla bezerkas, they used spears, rocks and hand bows, hard to use in the forest... but I digress, yes they should be more powerful, perhaps better arrows? 1 wood+1 iron for 5 armour piercing arrows? The bows advantage however is its range, that is why it is weak.

um.no, the welsh invented the longbow, im sure of that, cos im sorta an expert on it and the chivalrous ages

please use THESE forums instead! For the lob of, before I start calling you a Goober!

:grrr: WHY WOULD THE WELSH USE LONGBOWS IN A COUNTRY WITH BACK TO BACK TREES!! oh yeah, move this post -_-
|
Not only because of reality, because they simply need to be made even.
Sure bows are ranged weapons, reducing the risk of danger to yourself. But you onyl need time to set up a shot. And with moving targets this is hard. And you miss alot of the time as well. I say they should do at least a vicious axe's damage and give you a wc+20 so that on the rare occassion you do it you don't fail as often. |
Ok i am welsh, and we did invent the longbow. so HA :P
|
it takes 5 arrows with a Ebony bow to kill a rabit... in LOTR Legolas killed 5 wargs with 5 arrows with a wooden bow...
Just up the attack strength to like +6 |
Yes it will be made stronger

a real long bow has the power to drive an arrow into your skull and out the other side.

i have found on a website that the welsh did infact invent the longbow. heres an extract:
In the imagination of most people, the bow and arrow usually create images of Robin Hood and his Merry Men . To the knight, however, the longbow was a powerful and feared weapon. During the Middle Ages, the Welsh Longbow was one of the most powerful and devastating weapons. When King Edward I discovered the longbow in a battle he fought against the Welsh, he quickly established an archer corps that would help decide the victor of battles for over 200 years! At Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt, the longbow brought success to severely outnumbered English troops. this was taken from http://www.summerknights.com/Archery...of_archery.htm kthxbai |
This website proves i know everything.

-_- I would argue that... um... bah... I still think it odd. The English were far better archers though, they banned all sports on Saturday exept archery so everyone would practice. I didn't bother reading the website so don't quote another extract that says the welsh were better archers...
