"It was green!!" =P

Would it be possible to freeze a player until their level (not npcs) have fully loaded? It would only have to happen once, since theres never a chance of a level being green afterwards.. heres what i'm talking about:

GMAPs preload NPC's I believe. That would be what you want to do I assume?

He wants the map to load the connecting levels before players can walk across them, to prevent players from walking into a house or so before the level loads.

Dach 09-13-2002 08:40 AM

Used to be that way, but it changed back after one of those big updates. I have no idea why though...

emortylone 09-13-2002 10:34 AM

GMAPs would only load the outside levels... you might have a script that if (playerleaves) to freeze2 and have one of the scripts in every level that unfreezes. So it would freeze when entering a level, and when the scripts load, it would unfreeze... I think that'd work.

Or have an NPCW handle it on playerenters

CheeToS2 09-13-2002 05:01 PM

I'm not talking about doing it with scripts, i'm talking about fixing the problem in the EXE. Maybe this thread should belong in the bugs forum instead =\

emortylone 09-13-2002 10:57 PM

But what is the point of HAVING to fix the EXE when it can be done VIA scripts, the best thing around :P

Because it's much more efficient to have it in the exe.
It shouldn't be a choice to wheter you want green fields or not, the game's not suposed to do that therefore it is a bug in the exe which should be fixed.

^^ exactly
i'm sure no PW would like that happenning, so it should be fixed all-around -_-

I was just playing btw, for the few of you who didn't catch that ;) But yes, it should be fixed. But the Grassy field is the default, it should show black i think and freeze you until it has loaded.

yeah, that'd be an easier way for it to be fixed :D

Currently it is trying to preload it. But when the connection or the server is slow it might not have finished with loading it.

R0b1n-NPC 09-22-2002 09:31 AM

what ever happened to the "loading" text in the corner of the screen apon entering a level?

or has my super adsl 1mbit connection disabled it? :P

That happens when you go from an on-map to an off-map level that hasn't loaded :o
I haven't seen it happen from two on-map levels for a long time, if not ever.

I've gotten unloaded levels from mapped levels, in that crazy ocean on classic. Is that thing supposed to have bermuda triangles in it? Cause sometimes I end up in the middle of an island when I was swimming somewhere else in the ocean...

Shouldn't. I guess some links are broken. Tell me your level and your position (press F5) BEFORE you were warped. I'll check the area near Avalon now.
