Stefan on Saturday night or Sunday for you , you had said you would tell Unixmad to take off stat loss, was this just a trick so everyone would shut up? or are you actually gonna go do it?

BlKnight 09-09-2002 06:34 PM

You will see that for yourself. If stat loss is removed obviously he wasn't jokng. If not, well...

I wanted to ask unixmad, although i am not sure if its good to disable stats loss. Of couse it can look bad for newbies, but you can buy potions for increasing the stats so it is probably good if you also sometimes loose them otherwise all people would have 20+ in all categories.

Selzar 09-10-2002 05:52 AM

Nothings wrong with having 20+ in all categs

Its there roll, people roll for hours because they lost 1 important stat.. it is annoying, and a bad idea to have stat loss , isnt it enough losing like 15,000Experience.. how bout just keeep XP loss and lose a little cash isntead of stats .. it is hard to play this game when you KEEP on losing stats THEN you have to restart!!!!!

Brad 09-10-2002 05:55 AM

I got restarted and got almost my stats back cept for the scroll and starting hp. I'm not happy, but I'm keeping it. You lose some, you get some. That's life.

GryffonDurime 09-10-2002 05:59 AM

I'm happy. I rolled exellent stats and am now the ultimate magic user with all three schools of magic avaiable to me.

I've never even seen a potion of restoration. If they were cheaper (say around 150 maybe) and more available, I'd have no problem at all with stat loss. The potion would add to the game .. you lose stats, so you work to save up to regain your lost power.

AlexH 09-10-2002 11:35 PM

Stat loss is good just not the way it works.
You lose a stat mostly everytime you die.
Maybe it should be like 1 stat you lose every 5 times you die.
I assume that a death counter can be added easily if there isn't already one?

Gangster88 09-11-2002 03:01 AM

I think that they should make the potions way cheaper like the only person that has alot of money is Koni :(:(

If Koni has a lot of money there's nothing stopping other people from getting lots of money.
It just means he's either worked longer at it than everyone else and has been rather lucky at what he has gotten.

We've seen this argument before, and it's negated by the fact that the stat-raising potions are absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to buy. Remove stat loss, or edit the mudlib to lower store prices. One or the other.

AlexH 09-11-2002 03:14 AM

Making the stat increasing potions easy to buy would be pointless.
Then we have everyone running around with max stats which is definetly not what I want.
There supposed to be hard to obtain because they are so valuble.

I'm not saying they should be marked down to 10 plat each. But nothing should be selling for more than 400-500 platinum, unless you have absolutely horrible charisma.

AlexH 09-11-2002 03:31 AM

I'm assuming since the prices are so high something will be released that will allow people to get money more easily.
Maybe a few jobs.
Or like I suggested a while back, small quests for money. Like the mine shaft place on main could be cleared out for the villagers of the town in exchange for some plat coins.
After it's cleared it becomes a mine for you and all the other people who have completed the quest.

Selzar 09-11-2002 12:06 PM

god this game needs help

if 21 is max stats then that is retarded why the heck cant it go higher then 21,... everyone is gonna be 21stats oo that is super ... it is bad you should be able to get to 50 when your high level..

Gangster88 09-13-2002 05:23 AM

It would be the best if you dont lose stats when you die, the potions are tooo expensive anyway

MasterNuke 09-13-2002 06:04 AM

I think stat loss should stay... but... only 1 stat point... not 2... My recent 2 deaths each knocked off 2 stat points each instead of 1...

MalakSylv 09-14-2002 12:52 AM

I think you should be saved from stat loss, unless you're say.. level 2 or 3, or when you lose all your grace points, then you start to lose random stats.

_0AfTeRsHoCk0_ 09-14-2002 01:06 AM

Stat loss will become incedibly annoying during RP battles and wars and will most likely result in 1 of 2 things

1) Making RP'ing not as fun as it could be
2) Making them incredibly valuable and legitimate. You'll know that winning battles is important if your mens quality of their characters is on the line.
