After just watchin everyone else post their stuff, I decided to make a level of my own to show what I can do... so.. here it is... :D

C&C is ya want to...

It's nothing fancy... just a beach

WanDaMan 09-08-2002 11:26 PM

No and...

3/10,

That's the good part about it. Graal has gotten too fancy. There needs to be more originality to it.

8.5/10

GrappaRoo 09-09-2002 01:37 AM

You get a 10/10 for level contruction. Leave the rest (originality) to the GFX. Nothing I dislike more then people trying to get fancy with tiles instead of using them for their purpose-- it just looks bad IMO.

Yes, and that completely lacks originality. If you havn't noticed Graal has gotten more original these days, everything fancy has been done.

Thats what I ment :X just the loss of words :P

Torankusu 09-09-2002 09:14 AM

Uh, you have to walk around a small rock to get to the first ladder...

Knuckles 09-09-2002 09:24 AM

Yes true. But Graal now has higher standards now..
It's just like collages, as time goes on and things get more advanced, it gets harder to be accepted. You should try to keep 'em neat, and not so ugly. Maybe use a mixture of originality, and fill it in O_o. if ya know what i mean ;).

evilive 09-09-2002 04:36 PM

Uh.... the rocks are just there.... it's not supposed to be a level where you actually walk around in... it's just... for show I guess...

BeZeRkEr 09-09-2002 05:02 PM

haha stick to graphics :D
just kidding.. its nice.. could use a little more detail though :)

WanDaMan 09-09-2002 05:03 PM

We have to make nooby levels cool i dun have to change woohoo!

Kaimetsu 09-09-2002 05:14 PM

It doesn't need more detail. Too much detail just looks stupid and horribly unrealistic.

Yes Mr. God of Levels. That level is good. Graal has gotten too fancy. 2k1's levels have too many lights and are made too fancy, Even classic is starting to show signs of Fanciness.

Look at Zelda or any professional game. The designers thereof know that you don't need to cram a million different bushes into an area for it to look good. Open grass can look so much better.

That's kinda what I based my level off of... Zelda building style... That way things look fine without too much crap.

I wonder if anyone noticed the shadows yet...

I meant different. On yours the shadow isn't fluent, so does the sun hide for that foot of land? It should be a thorough shadow the whole cliff.

Knuckles 09-11-2002 05:19 AM

I thought this whole thread was about us being to realistic with levels.. and now two people that support the idea most, are fighting over "realism".. O_O

So the sun is high in the sky...

Big whoop. There's nothing else that should (Or could have shadows) that disproove what I did... but whatever. I hardly ever see shadows used in any levels, so quit whining.

Umm read than post, understand what I write. The shadows on those cliffs are perfectly fine with me, it's just that it's not fluent. You want criticism, learn how to take it. It wasn't intended to be a crack at your level, just improvement.

I hate when people take comments so seriosly... I mean, when people just try to help out others and crap.. They get all offended XD
