and this one plz... (NOTE: these levels are part of a larger land mass)

Not bad, i'd give about 5-6/10
You've got the hang of the basics, and you're starting to use the tileset 'pick a tile' or whatever it's called, rather than predefined stuff. Now all you need is to get in and find tiles to vary things and smooth them out (namely the cliffs, though it's a bit of searching to find the necessary tiles to make cliffs smooth)
Also, some of the tiles could be made rougher, and that path looks pretty ugly. If i were you, i'd use a path generator and get rid of the stones and stuff, if its part of a bigger landmass (no i dont support pathgen, but it's quicker than doing by hand for large areas.)
Anyway, you're starting to get things going nicely, though dont use NPC trees :P

they are decent levels, nice older style ones
i'd say about 5-10 because there are tile errors that can be easily fixed

Max-imus 09-01-2002 01:33 PM

Fix the path and you've got yourself a decent level.

First Level:

I dont like paths like that, But some people do and it doesnt look too bad, except a bit straight.

Houses are a bit plan, experiment to make them better.

Detail on grass overall it fits well with the level style

Water is a bit boring and repeative though

Spark's Rating: 6/10

-Change houses and get path and water a bit more interesting.

Second Level

Houses are a bit better here, so is level detail (Lack at bottom of level though)

Spark's Rating: 5/10
-Could be better, alot of the same times, eg: ALOT of swamp, ALOT of path. doesnt look that nice if there is alot of one thing together.

VampiricTutorNewHD 09-01-2002 06:32 PM

I'll just rate the second one. 5/10

Well, I prefer a bit more heavily detailed levels. But you seem to use halfgrass an awful lot. Halfgrass is a poor tile for detail unless you are right up against a house or other structure.

Spark910 09-01-2002 08:48 PM

I agree, it is a bit horrid them tiles, I makes it look blank as it blends too well with the grass. You need other grass tiles like swamp, cutback swamp and flowers to go with it, to make it looks good.

nikoma5000 09-02-2002 03:31 PM

good job. 5/10

haunter 09-02-2002 10:46 PM

I do not like either, at all. The layout, the grass tiling, the house designs, nor the paths, and I really dislike the water tiling.

2.3/10

Change the paths, add more detail, try to stick to 1-2 styles of houses in the same place, and re-do the water completely. Change the cliff, make it more wavy, and remove those ruppes that say "shop"

Timpan3 09-05-2002 12:26 AM

=/ looks like classic city =/ 3/10 on both really.
