Money/Coins

I like the idea of 3 types of coins more value as you go along however

Platinum? hmm thats like a missing link hah

Anyways
I was thinking

Gold Coins- Most valued and rare (Platinum's replacement)
Silver Coins- Commonly used not as valued or as rare as Gold Coins (Gold's replacement)
Wooden Coins - The lowest of low these are almost worthless and rather priceless compaired to gold or silver. (Silver's replacement)

I think a wooden = lowest coin type would fit more than a silver
and platinum is just weird

Ok now thats covered some more looks for coins and amounts

Lets say you have 1 gold coin...in the graphical view of the coin its just one coin. as you go up to 5 you see the coins you see right now a few. Then you skip up to 25 and you see new graphic
Then 75 you see more and 100 and above is the same with large amounts of coins

Just a idea to add more feel =)

the wood coin would be the equivelent to a US penny

Ghost Pirate 07-26-2002 06:53 AM

Also in stores you should get a price of how much a item will cost in each type (of course mixing would be nice like real money)
instead of REQUIREING to have all these types of coins

I like the idea of these different currencies. It's kind of like a new way of scamming people. Instead of paying 10 platinum coins for something, you could pay 20 gold coins for it, while people think that's a good deal, you're getting a bargain :p

cshank4 07-26-2002 07:57 AM

100 Bronze= 1 Silver
50 Silver= 1 gold
25 gold= 1 platinum

Golgafrinchian currency - leaves

Every kingdom should have its own, the exchange rate should be based on the ammount produced for each nation - ie if there are 10,000 Dustari coins and only 100 Samurai coins, 1 Samurai coin must be worth 100 Dustari coins...

nah that would cause great unbalance I think

adam 07-26-2002 09:33 AM

it should be base 10....

10 bronze == 1 silver
10 silver == 1 gold
10 gold == 1 plat

Tyhm 07-26-2002 10:28 AM

On the contrary, it would automate balance. Say the Dustari put in a system by which you can easily gain a hundred Dustari Soverigns by guessing the name of the king. If a Dustari coin has a fixed value, that screws over the ENTIRE economy - go to Dustariland, guess a million times, then you're set for life. If it has a variable value, it only screws over the Dustari economy - you have 100 million Soverigns, but it's only worth one gold in REAL money, because EVERYONE has 100 million soverigns. Want to raise the value? Decrease the supply. Tax everyone for 10%, then the soverign's worth more because they're less common.

I had a kingdom exchange rate plan but Loriel said he didn't like it ;( Garel did though <3

Tyhm 07-26-2002 10:56 AM

Loriel doesn't matter. ^_~

NOW is the time to decide on these things and NOW is the time to impliment them, before money is even on the server....

DeathChill 07-26-2002 11:03 AM

I can't find exactly where I posted it, but each kingdom would have its own currency rate based on the wars they win, what they 'export', etc. But it was based on plans that were going to be in so it actually worked lol
And I wanted each kingdom to be better at certain jobs, like Pirates should be better fisher men and boat builders :P

but money is on the server?

Good idea's tyhm

Tyhm 07-26-2002 09:27 PM

It is? Bummer. Well, before it gets out of control then. Easier to balance out seperate economies than one huge economy...on G2K1 there must be at least a hundred thousand gralats, but there's nothing anyone can do about it. On G2K2, if there are a hundred thousand sovereigns, who cares? It balances out, it takes 100s to buy a piece of gold, but in the tighter Samurai economy it's only 1.
