Which server sounds more fun?
 

Which server sounds more fun? Based on your knowledge and experience with other servers and hype, pick the server concept you think would be the most fun overall.

RP Playerworld - Your average roleplaying playerworld. You level up, gain stats, magic/skills/weapons/items and then there's the character creation process. There's an economy and everything is based on RPing.

PK Playerworld - You collect fullhearts, weapons and systems through quests. There's not much roleplaying, unless you give each quest an interesting storyline, same goes for the world. Your main objective here is to spar/PK people. No economy, but events and mini-games for when you're not in the PKing mood.

RP/PK Playerworld - The best of both worlds. It would be somewhat unbalanced though.

yes, please vote on this people, id like to see what everyone thinks....we're goin through some changes at DD and we're trying to figure out whether to lean towards rp or pk, or a bit of both...so thanks for input all =)

PK/RP players worlds just dont really work. Pker's ruin any fun RPing.

Ditto. The same goes for Rhune.

I grew up on N-pulse, which is a small society and absolutely no rping. So I'm used to hack & slash servers.

All of the oldbies have. Haha, the only RP server back in the day was Valikoria. The older one, not this new one. It was all about playerkilling and sparring back in the day.

thats true, and even val isnt that old...the first pw i played at for a long period of time was Dino Valley, and back then your choices were like...UN, NP, DV, Classic....hmmmmmm...seein a trend?

Valikoria is older than dirt. I bet you've never heard of Kharlia or Coasta De Agua either?

i remember seeing them, i never went to them though...when i played DV i was like...a quintesential (sp.) newb. I didnt go to any other pw's, knew nothing about nething...i just played, and it was fun...

Once you've done everything, there's nothing left to do and you get bored with playing Graal. So you look to other ways of having fun, this is when bad stuff happends; hacking, staff corruption, etc.

I miss getting PKed by a 15 heart, level 3 sword/shield, oldbie. Those where the good days.

PKing on an RP server can be done if the proper measures are taken. Like punishing pkers somehow, not just letting them harrass and attack everything that moves.

Then really if they're punished and not allowed to attack everything that moves how is that pking?

I think he meant like disturbing RP events.

I'd love to see one with a good balance, I think actually that's why 2K1 is nice, well was.

I mean there, you could roleplay with some of the kingdoms or stand around the admin house and PK. Of course now, both have gone down, PKing has lost value because of players not dropping anything and Roleplaying has dropped drastically ever since Dustari blew up.

But then again, 2K1 is basically all I know, I haven't played on other servers long enough to get the feel of them.

lol. I selected pk, but I think pk and rp can work together.
Last year on NP it was composed of people who either pked or rped. That made the game really fun cause there was a bunch of people who liked to pk and the ones who liked to RP. When the RPing got out of hand that was when the pkers came around to slash and kill everyone. That indicated it was time to CLEAR OUT.

Those were the good old days of having 200+ players online.

Hey look. It's all even.

You can't classify pking and set certain rules for it. PKing just means "player killing" meaning it doesn't have to be like classic where you just kill kill kill. Player killing can be made to be more RP style without taking the fun away from killing sprees.

A Karma system, such as the one I'm using for Oasis, should handle pking well. This isn't like AP, as your karma doesnt affect your battling at all (having good doesn't make you invunerable to sword attacks, having bad doesn't make you not able to heal, etc)

The way my death system is made will work with the Karma hand and hand, and it should be a fun new change to the old style of pking/dying. If you kill players a lot you are an evil person, it makes sense.

I'm using that for Rhune. Though it's already preset (karma) depending on your kingdom affiliation, and other variables in the character creation process. It should be interesting. Don't worry, I had this idea a long time ago, it came to me when I was reading a game FAQ on gamefaqs.com, heh.

If CDA was still up, I probably wouldn't have quit Graal. It was so damn fun. I set up wheelchair races starting in cda14.graal. I remember the first day I played, I begged Link to make me GP Cadet. I went to CDA after Graal 3000 shut down. I remember when I made a horse track offline, then I went to g3k, and saw one, so I was like "OMG THEY HACKED ME AND STOLE MY IDEA!!!!"
Hehe. I remember when me and Spanky ran for President against each other, and it was tie, so we had a tie breaker question, and I missed it :( Spanky was nice, so he made me Secretary of State, and we became good friends. Elrond and Phayze lost, so Elrond and the Elven Kingdom declared war against us, and me and Spanky hid in our "base." It was a throne room, with weapons disabled. Then Elrond came in and enabled weapons, and brought a bunch of Elvens in, and they pked us :(
I became FAQ, my first staff position on CDA. A few weeks after that, Link came back. Then CDA was hacked and the rest is history :(
