Oasis is looking for contributors!
 

Well, as some of you might know, I'm in serious lack of an actual staff team.

Basically I'm the only one that actively works on Oasis. I'm posting this, not for hiring staff, but asking for "contributions". Oasis will not have staff, so to speak. It will have contributers. You can contribute your work to help improve the server. Work can be in the form of:

Graphics
Scripting
Ideas

Oasis development is progressing, but not as quickly as I would like it to. While I feel I'm okay with graphics, ideas, and levels, I lack advanced scripting abilities. If you're interested in contributing ideas, graphics, or scripting, please contact me via aim or reply to this post. (my aim is konidias)

But before you reply, I want to make it clear that you won't be getting a staff position on the server. Nor any server access, graphic access, or anything of the sort. You're contributions should not require the use of anything that I currently have (mainly graphics). However, if you want to script something and you require graphics to do so, I can work out something for you.

At the moment I'm not in desperate need of graphics, but if you feel you can match the Oasis style of graphics, then by all means, tell me. I'm definitely needing some scripters, mainly to script systems and things, such as weather, movement, and mathematical things like tossing objects, shooting, swinging, etc.

All contributors will be mentioned on the contributions page of the Oasis website (when the site is made), listing your name and what you have contributed.

I would also prefer if we had a form of communication such as aim or icq, so that we could talk one on one. That's about all I have to say. Oh, and don't even bother trying to contribute if you're just looking to get RC or something because it's never going to happen. ;)

I still don't understand how you're going to answer all the 100000 PM's while uploading levels/working all by yourself. ;)

I will be "incognito". ;) You don't think I'm going to be updating stuff on my staff account do you? :p The only time I will go on that is when I want to help players and answer their questions and stuff. For the most part, I will be in disguise.

If you plan on doing it that way the only contributions you could possibly get are from scripters who have npc server access to script the stuff you need on. :p

I don't think that you'll find any good GATs who can match your skill enough to help out. :p

Why does everyone say "develop" nowadays? What ever happened to just "making" something? Where's the fun in developing?

What you have to understand is that the majority of people are greedy, and will only do something if there is personal gain involved such as getting power... So I doubt you will get enough contributors to help you with everything you need, but good luck anyway.

In any case once you get Oasis online for testing or for the public you will need staff to debug all those scripts that came in with no warrenty and no technical support.

I rather contribute to something then work for something, contributing you get the same amout of credit as you would staff, you're not committed you don't HAVE to help out, staff you're there you're expected to work if you don't you're fired you have less "freedom" you don't get to choose when you want to work or not.

Only thing you don't get when you're a contributer is staff tools or RC which isn't all that great ne ways RC is to help people its nothing too special and staff tools shouldn't even be there only thing you really get is to go faster then normal or warping to places big whoop.

Im not saying your wrong I just wanna know what your comparing it too.

Why would you want to contribute to a server that you think "isn't that great" and that has "mediocre graphics"? I would also like to know what you're comparing my playerworld to. A next generation console game? I'm a one man team, what do you expect?

I am comparing your playerworld to graal. Is there supposed to be a big difference? Because I do not see any difference in the characters. Cartoon style, basically same style face, same body style, etc. Just too graal-like for me to actually acknowledge as a "beyond mediocre" graphics.

And why do you want to know my aim?

What's wrong with the Graal style anyway? Why is it that so many upcoming playerworlds try to stray so far away from it? Most people who play Graal like the style of its graphics, and the engine that it's run on.
Personally, from what I've seen, I prefer the style that Konidias is using, as opposed to that of any other upcoming playerworld. The only thing I've seen wrong with it is the apparent lack of depth perception with a few tiles. And while some other playerworlds may have "better" graphics, Oasis looks more fun to play on.
But then again, it's all subjective, and we can't really judge something we've seen only screenshots of, with a small bit of information. We'll just have to wait and see how things turn out.

I haven't had many contributions, besides birdbirds character he made, but still hasn't finished so I can't use. Then Kaimetsu's ring inventory shell, and perhaps his magic system when he finishes it. I haven't really had any graphics contributed.

Shavo, my graphics are meant to be simplistic, so that other people can make clothing graphics and stuff from templates. If I did some super high detailed character sprites, it would be hell for people to copy that style and make stuff for the characters. The game itself will barely even play anything like Graal. You can't judge the gameplay before you even play. The graphics are changing over time, and it's all a matter of opinion. I have had many people tell me that Oasis graphics are much better than Graal graphics. But if you feel they are mediocre, that is fine.

That wasn't the reason why I blacklisted you from Oasis either. It was for something else. I believe some incident on 2k1.

Oh, and if I recall his aim is "shavo mombetto" or something...

Oh you mean that incident where you took my money and stole my hat in the auction house? I'll never forget that, sounds lame, but I won't. Oh yeah, and by making things simplistic, it's also easier for people to "steal" your material and edit it, then uploading it on an existing server, and they can claim that "they had it first" if they did a good job editing it, therefore it looks as if you're the thief, which you wouldn't be.

God, I did NOT take your stupid hat. I had every hat I could ever possibly want. Your hat DISAPPEARED when you set it down. I never had it in my inventory. I didn't take your money, you dropped a hat and I never recieved it and then you claim I stole the hat from you or something.

Oasis looks like it will be a very good PW, and I sincerely wish I had the time to help it...

I think Oasis will be what graal should have been, it keeps the graal style but creates something better from it, without keeping anything from the original graal. Dunno if that makes sense =P.

I had no power to get it back for you then. I was only an auctioneer. This was back when Stefan was still working on 2k1 and getting things done quickly was impossible. The loss of your hat would have taken days of me trying to contact Stefan just so you could get a hat that is probably worthless now. I didn't say it that way either. As a matter of fact here is the PM conversation we had. I would love for you to point out where you were fair to me about this situation.

You never even gave me a chance to prove I didn't have your hat. You just jumped to conclusions and labeled me a scammer. I have NEVER scammed on Graal. You talk to anyone else, and see if one of them will say I scammed them.

Not to mention this was like within the first month that I had started playing 2k1. He's been mad at me for almost a YEAR, over some stupid f***ing hat, that I don't even have. Now do you see why I blacklisted you from Oasis? Because you're a *****.

There is nothing more I hate than Graal forums, Why does almost EVERY thread go off Subject and end up as an Argument, Why cant you all take it else where.... Some pay for this and dont have much money anf save for a while, They say anything and get abused, And to think they all payed for it.

People disagree.. This is a "discussion" board. There is no way this can be like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. People pay to have access to the servers. You don't HAVE to read posts, there is also something called "ignore" which allows you to ignore a forum user. So if you don't like it, you know what you can do.

Well my opinion, not sure if it matters or not:

There is no reason to ever blacklist someone from a server unless the server was up and you have greatly reasonable cause.

konidias' side of the hat story sounds far more reasonable, you have no evidence of him doing anything...



Now, I was a scammer. I invented many of the scams...bomy stealing, "money cheat", I had them all...

Gahaha, we even had this one scam with a bomy, where another player would pretend to be a bomy, and we would trade...I would say whatever you did to trade, my bomy player would say whatever bomys say when they get a new owner, and then he would the other player would give me his REAL bomy. ROFLOL

Wow, now THOSE times were when g2k1 were the funnest ever...

Oasis looks better than your average playerworld, anyone who can't admit that is biased. But whether or not the server will be fun is a whole different story, we'll have to wait and see. ;)
