npc-server resets
wats the most annoying thing in the world?
no its not that high pitched sound your little cousin makes to be cute its npc-server crashing. and whats even more annoying? trying to get it up for days and days with no avail. server owners need a way of getting npc-server back up without buggin stefan ie: a button on rc, a CP on www.graal2001.com SOMETHING but this is rediculous. |
sometimes if its an npc like in a level that's crashing it, if you put it up again, it will just crash again, that's why someone like stefan needs to be able to see what crashed it so he can fix it
|
They should also make it so that an RC cant disconnect it. Like idiots who like to play with RC. Then accidently click on disconnect if they have the DC right.
|
we should have some limited access to the NPC database, so we can debug the problem. ;\
oh and I think Editing NPCs server attributes (like head and stuff) were disabled. IM pretty sure disconnect was, but Im not willing to test it out. |

then we need to be able to look at the same thing stefan looks at if theres some log that says why it was dc'ed what script caused the error, etc what command exactly was sent to make it go bonkers so we can figure it out. its becoming too much of a hassle to have to wait a day or so to get npc-server back up when theres a problem. itd be so simple just have it so people with npc-control can use a button to reconnect npc-server and the button only appears when NPC-Server count==0 since that is a var on RC stats it could be where the local npc button is, and it disappears when the npc-server is up and there can be a button also that has NPC-Server Log that we can see what the problem was when it was DC'ed |
I think it would be a definite benefit to be able to see how much of the npc server's resources you're using. Like I remember Stefan coming on 2k1 and telling the staff that the NPC server was using a lot of resources or whatever.
It would help a LOT to clean up lag on a server, since the staff could check the percentage of the npc server being needed, and then try to make their scripts more efficient to lower the percentage. I also agree that the NPC server needs a way to at least attempt a restart. Like if someone accidentally reset it, you could go and start it up again. Of course the npcs crashing the server would still need to be fixed by Stefan, but it would save time if it was just a staff that reset it. |
