www.graalonline.com down?

What is going on? Is it just me or is www.graalonline.com down? Graal will not connect. Can someone tell me what is going on?

Python523 06-14-2002 07:47 AM

it isn't completelly down, I can still connect using an old version of rc with the server and port (server has to be the ip address) the server list is down if anything

Phantasm sez:

Find a file named hosts in your windows (or winnt) directory - it contains a list of saved DNS entries, basically. Since the DNS is down, it can't match an IP to an address - pasting this text into the file will fix that.
NPC Code:

127.0.0.1 localhost
195.219.57.16 europa2.legende.net
195.219.57.15 www.graalonline.com
195.219.57.15 graalonline.com
195.219.57.15 www.graal2001.com
195.219.57.15 graal2001.com
195.219.57.15 listserver.graalonline.com
195.219.50.212 lich.legende.net

Save it (no extention!) and restart Graal.

Enjoy.

RobinX 06-14-2002 09:10 AM

make sure you dont just put that in Hosts.sam thats just a sample, i made this script to be made as your official hosts file, or an addition to your current one, if you put it in host.sam delete the .sam and your set

SaitoHajime 06-14-2002 09:20 AM

Very nice. Good job.

For the lazy ones:
just extract this into your windows folder =P

I always knew it had something to do with the hosts file.. but i always used the wrong extension >.<

VampiricTutorNewHD 06-14-2002 09:31 AM

What's the worst that could happen if I screw up somehow?

RobinX 06-14-2002 09:32 AM

yeah it was making me mad too I thought it was going to work, then i realised i was putting it in .sam and that was a sample, so i took out the extenion and it worked

RobinX 06-14-2002 09:32 AM

nothing can happen bad, if you mess up no big deal, it wont hurt you or your computer nor graal

Cybnext 06-14-2002 09:37 AM

Well, this didn't work for me. Does it go directly in the WINDOWS folder in winXP?

RobinX 06-14-2002 09:38 AM

yes make sure it goes into your windows folder, and make sure it doesnt have a file extension

VampiricTutorNewHD 06-14-2002 09:39 AM

Elite. Thanks guys.

Shiftk03- 06-14-2002 09:39 AM

For Windows XP the directory for hosts is: WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\etc

RobinX 06-14-2002 09:41 AM

oh my bad, sorry i use 98SE =(

Yeah, your welcome

mikepg 06-14-2002 09:45 AM

hey

suppose down the line, they decide to move the location of the actual servers to somewhere else...this will change their ip number, will it not (since IP, i belive, is based on location)? That would mean...anyone who created that file and forgot about it..would not be able to log onto graal unless it was deleted?

RobinX 06-14-2002 09:47 AM

then if it doesnt work, delete it

theyd probibly remember if they post on the forum or something, but you can always delete it after this shutdown is over

slick_soul 06-14-2002 09:56 AM

Falcor 06-14-2002 10:06 AM

graalnewworld.com . Right. You do realise that no servers are hosted at that dns, and if there were, they would be GRAAL NEW WORLD SERVERS, THAT WE CANNOT ACCESS. *shrugs* It's kinda pointless including that, really.
