New rule regarding the dicussion of Warez/ROMs
 

People have told others in many different threads, many different times that it was against forum rules to discuss either warez/ROMs. I never put it into writing or gave much warning on it. I hoped common sense would dictate that you shouldn't discuss that stuff here, nor post links involving such. Sadly, this seems to have failed, so now it is being put into writing.



There will be ZERO TOLERANCE on the discussion of warez, ROMs, and emulators. This means it is an automatic ban, as is posting links to such site that promote said activities, and have warez, or ROMs on them.

I'm sorry, but since it keeps happening I must make a firm rule against it.

...When did this become a problem? I don't remember seeing any of these threads.

And isn't it already outlawed in the Graal rules?

Music I could care less about. Some artists don't care, others do. It's too much on music sharing to keep up with.

Um emulators should be able to be discussed since they are freeware.

That sentence, didn't even make sense. Roms are free to so they should be able to be discussed! Warez are free too...Hmm....Sound like Freeware! Anyways, Yes, Emulators are just a Basis and are not illegal, but Emulators just lead to Roms.

Roms are illigal.
I was going to post a problem I had with MAME here, but I can't, so... bleh.

My two cents are that you can talk about Emulators, but not post links to rom sites, upload roms, etc.
Because that's just... bad.

So are mp3s, i do recall audiogalexy going to court this week about mp3s. But on every rom site i have used it always gives you the legal discalmer that you shouldnt download or keep for 24 hours if you dont own the game, it's not our fault if "some" people cant make a "correct" judgement about this leaglaty.

Roms, Emulators, mp3s, and media type things like that ARE NOT ILLEGAL. AS LONG AS YOU OWN AN ORIGINAL COPY OF IT AND YOUR SIMPLE MAKING A BACK UP IT IS OK TO HAVE IT !!!

Then they do that privately, and not on here.


As I recal, I have never heard of a company getting in trouble for having mp3s on their computers, but I know of companys getting in big trouble for having illegal copies of software.

Wasnt that what napster and audiogalexy got in trouble for, providing software to share files, and <3 karen bye

James: Actually what he did say, did make sense. Since they are LEGAL and FREEWARE they should be allowed to be talked about. ROMs on the other hand have to be deleted within 24 hours if you don't own the actual cartridge. Also, there are free ROMs that you don't have to delete within 24 hours, but, they are usually games not made by a company.

Discussion and linking to such things could cost all us...and Stefan even more because it would be more likely that Graal gets shutdown for providing ROMs because people are not paying attention to the fact that Nintendo probably does regulalry check what's going on here.

That 24 hour crap is Bullshit. Only Home Made games can be played, otherwise, it's illegal; but I'm not saying the CIA and FBI are going to join together to hunt you down....

I've read that roms aren't illegal, as long as you own the original cartridge, or you delete the rom file within 24 hours of downloading.
