Global ban

If players who hack\use trainers on one server should be globally banned, why are there so many people on g2k2 who were banned on classic? :P

Birdbird_0 05-28-2002 06:17 PM

Well, not alot of administrators that localy ban can globaly ban as well ;)

Spanko 05-28-2002 06:22 PM

Plus global bans don't always pass on well through the different server computers, though I do believe G2k2 and Classic are on one and the same server.

Someone who is caught hacking on any server should be globally banned in my opinion.
If they'll do it on one server what will stop them doing it on another.

I use to use trainers when I was a noob, now I'm NAT Chief on Delteria and can't stand people who use trainers and jail them with pleasure...

People who do that usually stop and start enjoying the game without hacking after awhile, a lot of my friends have done it. Most people who play graal have hacked/used a trainer atleast once. Global ban is bad just for that reason, once your ready to start playing legit, it's too late...

Most trainers send an e-mail of your passwords from your regestry to the author of the software. In otherwords, using a trainer is like giving your passwords away for the sheer joy of gaining extra rupees. Not my Idea of a fair trade-off.

voicedcow6666 05-28-2002 09:13 PM

Yeah...using trainers isn't worth it...like you said, some email your password to the authors, and other have trojans...it's very unsafe...

Eh
Graal Online Uses One MySQL Server :) One ban for all server is recored in one table on the MySQL server. :) the Playerworlds are on diffent server but One MySQL server where all accounts are stored.

voicedcow6666 05-28-2002 09:21 PM

It's still supring to me Graal is using MySQL...You'd think they'd use Oracle or something more powerful and more stable...wonder how the MySQL server handles all of this, it's got open connections to it like crazy...

One thing that sucks is about a year ago IceHawk globally banned my jedi2k1 account for supposably hacking on 2k1, and regardless of anything I said nothing was done about it...

Only people who are able to global ban. Not IP ban. Just disable the account to not be used ever again (unless one of them decide to unban it)

Unixmad

Stefan

Agelaos

and

Alkaren

are the only 4 who can global ban an account. Thus if someone wants to tell them and have an account banned for hacking it is good. Generally local staff won't go that far. They'll just local ban.

I did?

voicedcow6666 05-28-2002 09:50 PM

Generally local staff will just jail...I never ban unless it's absolutely necessary. With hackers/trainer users we just jail 'em and reset their accounts when we release 'em, most of the time.

mhermher 05-28-2002 09:58 PM

Archaon:
Delete their accounts. :)

SinNetherwind 05-28-2002 11:11 PM

I rarely ban... Think, if everyone who used a trainer was Globaly banned, there would be ALOT of people never playing again, because tons of people just use them, not even to show off or try to act cool before they are jailed, but use them in quests or get money to buy overpriced NPC's *coughMithicacough*... Oh well
