ways to help the chaos of 2k2
a money system: we need a simple system to track wealth, maybe each kingdom would have their own kind of money, just to spice it up, or maybe just a material thing, such as 1 iron rock makes 10 iron coins, while a rock of gold will make 10 gold coins, and iron coins will be worth 1/2 of gold coins.
start up a bounty hunter's guild: this will help with all of the outlaws and punks roaming about the world, people will think twice now about wronging a farmer if they know they will be hunted down. bounties cannot be set up by people killed by the outlaw, because that wouldnt be cool. death system since this is an rp server, pking will probably not be a problem, leaving the server open to an interesting death system. when a player dies, they leave their body in the form of a soul, or ghost. They carry none of their items, and must go to a Temple to be ressurected back into their body. Whenever a person dies, they leave all of their items on the ground, and their body, also, leaving them open to looters. characters revived in this way cannot remember what happened leading to their death, making them lose 1/2 level of experience. characters in soul form can travel around the world, nearly invisible to all, except clerics and other diviners who can gaze into the spirit world, via spells. A soul is very vunerable to magical attacks, and a soul that is "killed" is immobilized until brought back to physical form. since someone may spend days in this "soul coma", souls have the ability to cut their own life thread, letting themselves rest, eternally. I've already ranted long enough on this, so I ll move on :) Kingdoms the server is in dire need of a place for people to vent all of their violence, and this will be through wars. a soldier in the military gets a military class weapon, some training (a few level ups, or whatever we run on), citizenship in the kingdom, and a steady pay. Players would not always want to be a part of the kingdoms, so they would be able to choose themselves as Neutral, which is where all of the nonkingdom groups are: The Nomads, the Desert Bandits, the Pirates, the Merchant Troupes, and all that romantic whatnot. being an independant, however, leaves you unprotected by the law, and by an army. I could think of more things, and actually go over this for errors, but have I ever done that before this post? |
uhm, allot of these things we have ( excpet bounty hunting ) but this is testing, dont worry about kingdoms for now

maybe if that wasnt exactly like dungeon seige? |
think: if we staff has to worry about 5 or 6 islands, nothing will get done, ever, here we cant handle a couple of thieves very well, and you want 5 or 6 massive islands? wtf is wrong with you?

Most people who will play 2k2 (or who should play 2k2) are the role playing participants, what this island and the main island is going to do is basically promote non role playing, if that happens, the server will just end up being a 3d 2k1 but with more kingdom areas than job areas
|
How about instead of working on a stupid start island and get the kingdom and main islands done and get the whole supposed RP side of the server is done
|
it's dumb to die and lost all your items and start over again

Experience, I can deal with losing, if not a lot. Items.... hell no. |
People talk about problems in the Blacksmith shop, but people are also becoming very organized and forming lines (which I like seeing ). But on the other hand, there are always the people who cut, and find shortcuts, and it's not like you don't already have to sit in line long enough, due to the people who get in line, and don't even know how to make the iron. So then these people cut, and they go and make blades and what-not, and then they come back, making the lines even longer. There should be a "guard rail" like at movie theaters and stuff, wide enough to let people through and in a line, and move around, yet skinny enough to stop people from cutting. If you need to leave the line for some reason, you could just say "leave" or whatever, and a little rail might open or something, and you could walk out. That's a solution that suits what the RPers on 2k2 want.
People talk about these people who steal rocks in the mines. I posted this solution in an earlier post, so I'll just copy it: Actually, I think a neat solution to that problem would be this, (I got this idea from entering the café on JK2) have a guard stand at the door of "No PK zones" and when someone is about to enter, have the guard say, "Please hand over your weapons, you will get them back when you leave." You then should have the option to give them your weapons and be able to enter, or not hand over your weapons and obviously you wouldn't be able to enter. I actually think that would go along with the RP scenario, and it'd be a good way to handle no PK zones, rather than having to check your sword everytime you enter the room. The staff could edit this as they like, and maybe more people could suggest stuff to make them better? Each plan has flaws, but I believe that other people could fix them. I see a problem in 2k2 and I say that "most" of us are civilized enough to get it fixed, like the people in the smithing shop. I think 2k2 is the most fantastic server I've played on, and I really wish it could be better, unlike 2k1, which was a good server, but it was too unbalanced. Police might actually be another solution, but not like those corrupt bastards on 2k1, who'd take their friends out of jail if they were bad. When people are thrown in jail, they should have a record on them, and the only people with the "remove" ability should be staff members, that aren't corrupt, so that the sentence is carried through, and people don't get away with stuff they shouldn't. |

Pking?
We are talking about Graal 2002 here right? Trying to kill someone on Graal 2002 is next to impossible as long as the person you are trying to kill can move. The sword moves so slow you barely hit someone who is moving. Even when you do hit them it doesnt always hit them. Then theres the fact that they heal just as fast as you hurt them. |

Dont go asking for miracles. :p |
Er...not to sound like an ass, but the whole trees in every level may be what 2k2 should have. Back in the medievel times every part of the world was not excavated and forests basically covered all the lands. Towns/kingdoms were the only things not covered in forest, besides trails of course.

I like the basic idea of the death system brought up, but I think you may have gotten a bit carried away. Keep it simple --- when a player is killed, they revert to the old ghost mode, and stay that way until they can get to one of a few churches, where an NPC can revive them.

I'd like to know exactly what it is you're doing that's going to take the next four months to complete. Quite a while ago, Er1c said that he had already completed the construction NPCs, and we've already seen that all the kingdom islands are mostly complete, with the exception of Zormite. The crystal we saw in the Bomboria castle is obviously tied in with the capturing system, which, seeing as there's been one in Classic for months, can't be too hard to complete. So what's taking you so long? |

We said that we don't release everything at once. For a good roleplaying environment we need many weapons and magic and a good dungeon system. The island will not be a big problem, people can build houses etc. but the environment must be good enough. Sorry for this but Graal2002 is currently in alpha phase, we release new things things all 1-2 days and when the big islands and the kingdoms stuff works good enough to open them then we will open them.

Good Idea stefan :)

It's just frustration, I think... |
The best way to help the chaos would be making all the tiles in all levels randomly change to other tiles every second (Or quicker).
For those who don't realize it, this was a very stupid pun. |
