Smithing Problem.
 

I go to the black smith heat up my iron and water it. But when I go to the anvil hit a then highlight blade and hit D nothing happens the iron goes back in my pack. Then after about 15 times of trying all of my iron just vanishes out of my pack. :( I tried for 2 hours to make a sword and even a water bucket once. Er1c suggested restarting windows. I did that but when I came back the NPC server was down so I couldnt guess I'll have to wait. I suppose if worst comes to worst I'll have my friend craft it for me. :(

edit: I've lost about 8 Iron because of this.

Otherwise try making the selection with 'S', I'm not sure if that works but it probably should.

To make a sword, you need 4 blades, and 2 gold. You must have been dropping em or somemthing

I'M NOT DROPPING ****!! I TRIED ALL THE BUTTONS!!! I even talked to Er1c about it and I'm not the first person with the problem. :grrr: Just because you're average graalian is a complete idiot doesnt mean some people dont know what they're talking about. I tried every single key used on graal and the mouse. I have all the **** you dont need 4 blades to make a blade you need 1 count that 1 Iron bar to hammer into 1 blade. I really wish people would read **** before responding with something that doesnt help in any form. As for the S I can see one suggesting that. Except I know its D because thats what ever one has told me. But I tried any ways. I'm hoping my comp was just bugged but have to wait until I get home. Sorry for that outburst. Just working for over 2 hours and nothing happening is a little frustrating. Guess I'll wait and see.

[edit] Just so every one doesnt think I dont know. Yes I know it takes 4 blades and 2 gold for 1 sword blade. But only 1 iron for one blade. [/edit]

1) I recommend the blacksmith northwest of the mountain. It's quite a walk, but twice the size.
2) The blacksmith in the northwest town gives you SOME directions, but there's the whole thing -
Walk up to the stove, Press A
(If it wasn't lit, you'll light it with some coal - press A again to place the iron)
When the slab turns red, use the tongs (D, usually) and run it to the water barrel. If you take too long or water it too long it'll go back to your pack.
Walk up to the right side of the barrel - past the nozzle for no apparent reason, until you're basically under it - and use the tongs (D again). When it turns purple, head to the top of the anvil - you now have Hot Iron, but it won't last.
Use the tongs on the anvil (D again) and select what you want to make, usually a blade, press S or D to confirm. When it's done, walk back up to the top of the anvil and press A to pick it up before it goes public - you might be able to pick it up from the side too, I forget.

When you have at least 3 blades and 1 gold, go to the shiny anvil and press A to make your sword. No report yet on if the shiny swords do more, but they sure cost more.

Aww.... When you have the "purple" iron bar, you go to the anvle, the right side of it... or left, press 'A' and select a blade.

In my case I always used 'D', cause otherwise the Iron returned to my inventory.

Thanks Thym I've tried all that but not at the second black smith so maybe I'll try there tonight. I finally gave up and talked AlexH into making the sword for me after I gave him the stuff. So I have my sword now at least. :)

Hm. Yeah, that happens to me sometimes too. Go to the anvil with your purple bar, select blade, hit S or D - nothing happens and your pliers are empty.

Yea that happens to me every time I try it. :( Some times it say says I put it back in my pack but thats like if I hit a and stuff.

lol, i tried using A for about the first 8 irons, then i started using D like Grim here :D
