Speach Bubbles

I like the new look of 2002, it looks/feels like an RPG I could tell my friends about without getting made fun of...

I think it'd look beter/more professional and complete though if we had speach bubbles when we chated-- With these cluttered levels, it's getting hard to see what people are saying... Also, speach bubbles would take care of people who flood the screen with something like "_________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______________________" by making the text smaller and puting a higher limit on it.

Just a thought! :)

that sounds neato, but you always gotta remember there will always be one person to mess up a good thing...

great idea then it would be easier to read the chats since some people do that to be annoying. There also could be a on off option so if you got tired of clicking the chats bubbles or something

I was thinking something more along the lines of this.

But of course, with beter graphics :(

I think it'd look cool and be eaiser to read...

It could work in theory, but the speech bubble is massive. People would abuse it just like they do emotions (like when they cover over iron while it's heating so you can't tell that it's red yet) Those big bubbles would just make it worse unless you made them semi-transparent.

I like the chat system the way it is now.

Semitransparent and scalable...too much wasted space when it's that whole huge thing.

I like it though. Try talking in the snow, it's agrivating - a constant background would help immensely.

i don't like the idea

iniquitus 05-25-2002 03:17 AM

Yea, I was implying that it would be scaleable, and as I said it was just a quick screenshot edit, I don't really see the abuse thing as a big problem, anything we do people will find a way to abuse, but I too find it annoying trying to read chat text when a player isn't over a consistant background... you could always develop a system where you can only chat so much per min or something, or even beter, you could make the bubbles go away by clicking them!:D

I don't know, I think it'd add more style to Graal-- make it look more finished.

The current chat system is even more annoying on 2002 since the trees overlap it and such.

I have talked on snow. Normally I just go and talk over a house or something. What I'd like is perhaps some type of thign that lets you change the color of your text and just keep it the way it is.

Ferret:
make it so you can choose to have either bubble or normal
and when you click on a speaking bubble it disapers :O

This would be really handy come to think of it, as text usually runs right across the status bars
