Gaia : Review
Yey, there's an onlinestartlocal! I was so worried that my first PW Review would have to automatically fail for no start level. The onlinestartlocal is a level where you select whether your male or female(It looks similar to Val's class selection system). I think it would be a little more helpful to add some text, such as
"Select your Gender, Press S to choose.". Moving on, the level after after that you get all the system NPCs, many of which look great. The level above that has two NPCs that will scroll through heads, and allow you to choose one, and once that lets you change your clothes. A sign should be added somewhere that offers directions, it took me awhile to figure out the clothes changing NPC. However, the rooms next to it give directions how to change clothes and head. It introduces you to a storyline in that level too, though it doesn't seem to be a huge storyline. Gaia is the spirit of earth, throughout your quests you'll get globes(wind globe, fire globe, etc.), with each globe you get a fullheart/weapon. Bring all the globes together in a temple and the ultimate Gaia spirit appears.... (The story ends here) The overworld looks pretty good, they re did the fulleharts, but not to some confusing status bar, they made them into actual hearts. I personally like that better than status bars. The door system is nifty, it shows you actually opening the door, and the door swinging open. Not just suddenly disappearing. Occasionally while walking through the main town, things will suddenly go black for a second and then return to normal..... I don't know if this is just a problem offline, or on my computer, or a problem with the script... Moving a little bit out of town, I found a building that led to a quest. The first 2 parts of the quest were your basic "hack your way through a million baddies and win". This server has some great scripting, it's a shame to have boring quests like these. At the end of the quest there is a scripted boss, in a room where balls constantly shoot at you and there are explosions all over. I easily lured the boss into one of the explosions and it keep hitting him until he died. Anyways, the main town takes up most of the world, and the town is pretty good. However, the farther away you get from it, level quality gets a bit worse. There is almost no tiling on the ground, it's just plain grass. wow, A giant slide....it's actually quite fun! If only there were some tiling around it. There doesn't appear to be much to do, if you've done the quest. I'm sure if it were online there'd be an events team to hold events, but there doesn't appear to be many places to do it. There's a soccer arena, but it's still under construction, as are many of the buildings. This server is pretty good, and has great potential. I love the new Graphics they have for chairs, doors, and chests, and the system where it slows you down going upstairs is pretty neat. I'm pretty sure if they fix up a few things they'll pass real soon. Gaia Status: Fail. -Jinx |

Off-topic: How would you review playerworlds that have been designed with an NPC Server in mind, anyway? They can't be tested offline.

Gaia
Gaia is a pretty good server, Amon-Ra is very competent , about playerworld,he know how to manage one.I wanted to see Gaia up.
Some PlayerWorlds needs to be removed, does not go to cite names, I think, all Graal knows which is these servers. Necessary Stefan to give space for new very goods servers how Gaia and Maloria. |
