Umm... a new tutorial?!

Well... I decided to make yet another level making tutorial. I don't know why really but I had nothing better to do and also the old one was getting a bit old :)

I have tried to change some stuff from the other tutorial that people have been complaining about ^_^

Tutorial 1:
Here I fixed the basic outline of the levels. I added the basic mountains and the outline of
the river and the sea below. I also added two waterfalls!

Tutorial 2:
In this tutorial I added a house and a couple of trees where I saw some fit in. I used a mixed
shield for the walls of the house and two windows on the second floor. This was to make it a
bit more original then the normal predefinied houses.

(Argh... don't post here before I am finished submitting, 8 tutorial images, 30 second rules x.x!)

Tutorial 3:
Here comes the most boring part of the tutorial. I added the outline of the grass to sand in the
level. Keep in mind to use a varity of tiles. I also filled the level with it´s first water.

level I added some desert tiles.

Tutorial 5:
Here is another quite boring part of the level. I added more different sand tiles. And also
I fixed up the water with normal water and deep water.

Tutorial 6:
Here mainly water has been fixed. I have added a couple of water holes in the level and also
detailed the water with some more tiles. Added waves for the normal water.

Tutorial 7:
Here is the first layer of grass detail. Here I added bushes, some swamp tiles, stones, fences,
a couple of flowers and the weed tiles.

Tutorial 8:
Ok the finishing touch. Here I added more different grass tiles, a couple of small stones, some different mushroom tiles, a couple of cut down bush tiles and some of the destroyed sign tiles. And I also added some smoke coming from the house.

Note: In this tutorial I did not use the different height tiles for grass to sand. And also there is no need to follow the tutorial exactly, it can however be used to help for inspiration and such :)

:megaeek: *falls over* That's really nice Gori... Umm.. What was I gunna suggest? Oh yeah, right when you make the outline for the grass to sand tiles... Well... I would fill the inside up with a dirt tile right away... not detailed yet, but just a dirt tile... I found it confussing looking at the screenshot trying to make out where the sand and where the grass would be. Great work man! Keep it up! I'll keep practicing, maybe someday i'll be as good as you! ;)

Although I'm not as good as Gori, I can make good levels.

Perfect for a tutorial! Good example of how to develop a level from the start.

Personaly, for actual server use, theres a bit too much detail for my taste though. What should the player be focusing on? I think it'd be perfect with less 'patches' of grass under the house and one big grassy area below it instead. Water looks gorgeous btw. Besides that it's probably beter than I could do for a tutorial :)

Urizen :D
