question about classic

this may have been answered in unixmad's thread but im not about to search through all of those messages, but is classic getting an npc server?

MysticZhadow 04-25-2002 02:45 AM

most likely... considering that they probably have a lot of good scripters

Tyhm 04-25-2002 04:47 AM

Not good enough - we'd have to completely do over 5000 levels to be NPCServ compatible. Until somebody makes a batcher to do it automatically, no NPCServer for Classic.

yes adding Clientsides to all those NPCs would be a nightmare.. not to imaging all the weapons having to be redone... na its not a good idea. And if you did classic would not be classic anymore, for it will have fallen into the world of advancement

Or you could have a team of about 10, each do 500 levels... Clientsiding NPCs isn't hard or anything, it's just as boring as hell.

People on Classic probably won't offer to go through 500 levels and add things to NPCs.

Sure, the NPC server would help, but Classic is classic without it.

And adding clientside to all NPCs wouldn't work properly either.
Since adding weapons or changing (most) player attributes is not allowed clientside.

I guess if a special version of NPCServ was made that assumes //#CLIENTSIDE unless it sees //#SERVERSIDE...sort of the inverse of what exists currently...then we could load it up and fix the myriad bugs.
