Someone's not been nice...
 

I have recently discovered that someone has tampered with my Control-NPC and has deleted every single line of script in it. I do not find this humorus in any aspect and I'm more than annoyed. Unforunately, there are no logs of anyone doing this so I am at a complete loss right now. :(

Dont you have backups?

Something else has been messed with...my new starting level for one has been messed with (no longer warps player) and a few NPC Class scripts have been deleted.

I'll probably never find out who did these things anyway, but I still find it important to imform everyone what is going on.

You can't necessarily back up the Control-NPC...even though I could, I never expected this to happen.

If not you deserve everything you get.

He doesnt deserve his scripts deleted.
Luckily he had backups.
And could it have been when your server was down.
One of the host servers crashed and a few p2p servers went off.

I have at least one suspect which is Agelaos. Although I have nothing else indicating he is responsible for this, but I do have logs of him logging into my PW:

Though why he has RC, I will never know...he's showed up in my logs several times before, so I do not know what kind of relationship he has that grants him global access :/

Doesn't really matter...the rest of my db NPCs are intact. The Control-NPC has no scripts in it meaning gralats don't work nor do several other things.

And as for class scripts missing, they do not...they are hidden because no NPC calls them.

That sucks :( There has to be a way to find out how it happened.

I am fortunate, however, that I do have a dump of another Control-NPC that contains some of the missing scripts I need...but nothing that I have made...it will be some time before I can get everything resolved.

Nah, it's alright...I won't be having hats and the like for too much longer :)

...and it has to happen to someone that knows how to run a playerworld, too.

I would try searchine the RC log for someone that uploaded a log file.

he must of deleted the rc log part where he done something...
And he is the Accounts Mananger, so he gets Global RC =/

That idiot, Chicken, deleted our levels... We had about a month-old backup, so that worked...

What's wrong with logs? If you delete logs, they come back up again... Lag, maybe? All of our DB NPCs looked like they were gone because of lag.

You just posted Agaelos' IP number. :(

It wasn't him...
He came on one time and edited ours, I think. All he did was add a command at the very top of it.

Oh, I just thought they got deleted, I do think that if you have a script and you don't keep a backup, and something happens, don't look for someone to blame, because it could have been a server bug. I guess I just strongly believe in backing up scripts...

Please don't accuse Agelaos of being implicated in any of this as Agelaos would not do that~ He's accounts manager so he has global RC.

I haven't accused anyone yet, just holding him at the top of possible persons.

And, no, it's not lag...the rest of my db NPCs still had script in them :p All of them were fine except for the Control-NPC. I even checked Agelaos' rights on my PW and he has none, so I don't think he did anything anyway. Besides, once someone logs onto RC, the log is automatically updated, so I wouldn't have been able to tell if it was edited :p The NPC log, however, I could have, but it hadn't been edited either. Oh well...just keep moving on :)

There is a problem with NPC Control and downloading scripts that are bigger then 24k. Your NPC is still only, just not visable to NPC Control. Don't update the blank information and wait for stefan to shorten your script so it is visable again...

Either that or someone deleted it ;)

Uh, the Control-NPC had a scripting blocks in it that gave players certain NPCs when they logged on, controlled hats, and several other things...

but I wish someone would have told me this sooner...cause I've already updated :/

G_Yoshi, check the RC log and find out if anybody uploaded a log, if someone did, chances are big that he/she is the guilty one, trying to hide evidence.

What is the size of the script that is lost?
There are some limitations

If you delete RC log it logs that you deleted it right after you deleted it. So you can never TRULY delete the RC log w/o FTP

All I know is that everything had been fine up until Monady when I went to check it for an example of something and it was blank.

heh, that is strange, but no one deleted the logs since it's still intact from whenever it first started.

Then it must be the bug, and PA, I never accused Agelaos of doing that. He's trusyworth and would never do that.
