As the NPC server was down one time, I noticed that my rope still worked, as did all of my other NPC weapons.
No other NPCs worked but the NPC weapons. Night/day was intact because, well, it's in an NPC Weapon. Rather, an invisible one. Stefan, I have a couple of suggestions to fix this. Find a way to encrypt the text in memory, or have NPC weapons server-side as well... Just a thought. |
that would be hard to do
|
an MD5 hash with some random character key (so a memory editor won't be able to distinguish the random characters from other stuff)
|
actually, ya know.. now that I think about it. I don't know if it really can be done. It all depends on how the script is parsed and how often it's done.
|
Problem is to protect the compiled npc script in memory.
Everything can be hacked if you look at the Graal.exe program (assembler code). But it's now possible to have server-side script for the npc weapon, it can be put in the server-side control-npc. That is also used for the new 'Trading item' which uses the server-side script command putnpc2 |
The aim is to have everything graphical client-side,
while having everything secure stuff server-side. |
Wouldn't server-side NPC weapons be really 'slow' like bomy pets or other npcs?

Hmm, everything is going like this...hmm...
