Cynical : Review
 

So... yeah. Sorry for the delay, guys. :(


- No storyline. Moving on...


- The tiling is great in some places. However, tile errors are laying around everywhere. Not much originality, but I was impressed by the amount of effort you put into some of your levels. (I could tell.)

However... the farther I got, the level quality got worse. :(
Some levels seemed like they were just slopped together, and weren't even reviewed over by the original level makers. Guys, stuff like this hurts your review. :(


- Your System NPC was pretty nice, although half of it wasn't working offline, so I won't deduct any points or whatever. An idea, though; for each quest the player finishes, add a new warp point. The system provides access to alot of places on the map, silly. ;)

I loved the doors in Treetopulous or whatever it was called. Try to use a different graphic, though. Simple, but nifty.



This goes to show that if you put more effort and creativity in your playerworld, it just might make it. Thanks for the fun, you guys. I haven't had a review in a while. :p

sooo your saying.. if they fix up the levels they slacked on and fixed the tiling it might pass?

This seems like the best review, i guess must have been a pretty good server to get good fedback like that =/

I don't think we should leave it up to one person to decide wether or not a server goes up.

That is actually a good point, because people have different views on levels, one person likes more tiles(birdbird type levels) and another person doesn't like that type of stuff, more clean and empty(Konidias type), now if we have one person deciding all the playerworlds, it would just be what they like to see.. now if we had like 2-3 reviewers it would make it more fair in a way.

I agree.. pw reviewers should consist of about 4-6 people that all review the same pw individually without any other pw reviewers comments.. they write the review, and if more say "pass" then "fail" then they talk about whether the pw should go up and what should be fixed if it does go up.

PW Reviewing should be like olympic iceskating judging.. they even changed how that is judged recently because they say most sports are just a matter of opinion and judgement calls.. football is a matter of opinion when the winning team can be decided by a referee's call, most performance sports such as gymnastic and iceskating rely on a group of people's opinion.

I dunno if it's right to be able to fail a pw because you don't like the tiling really.. unless it's just awful and doesn't make any sense at all.

Why? Psyker's unbiased, he knows the difference between good levels and bad levels, and he does give everyone a chance.

No one is saying he is biased.. We're just saying that he has his own opinion on what he likes in tiling and stuff...

If he sent me and some other people these badly tiled levels, I'm pretty sure we could all agree that they were badly tiled.

Yeah, that's a good idea.

I don't really like having all of the weight put on me. Hawk is the only other reviewer, but he = ded, I think.

Maybe... we should hire a few more reviewers? I'll check in with Crono later.

Yeah, that would be a good idea, especially if, as Psyker says, there was more than one reviewer.

Yes, just make sure if there is going to be multiple reviewers, that they have some different views on things, and also that they will be responsible and not steal people's playerworld stuff and whatnot. :)

Yes, but if Psyker fails it, the pw doesn't even have a chance. I know Psyker has good judgment, but in this case it could go either way because of what people like, and I really don't think it should be decided by one staff member.

Can u post any screenshots of some levels that need to be worked on really bad Psyker?

i already deleted the entire playerworld off of my hard drive, so... ;\

Psyker is a great PW reviewer, but I do think it would be better if there were 3-5 reviewers. They each reviewed it individually, and gave their review. Then, if there were differences in the Pass/Fail status, they would have a meeting with each other to discuss it....or something like that.

Personally I think the best way to hire new PW Reviewers. Would be to put up some sort of levels that people can access and have people send write there own reviews for it.
Yes this might be quite a bit of work but it would give every one a fair chance and would help to select the best candidates for the job. Also it would help to cut down on any resentment people might feel if they werent even given at least a chance. Just my thoughts on the matter any was.
