Gashi (Greetings).

This is Japanese dictinary. Here you'll find some words that are used often durning Role Playing. I will add more as time passes. Please do not post in this thread, so it will not grow large.

You realize, don't you, that "Burakku Naito" is pronounced "Black Knight"? It's just an English word (or phrase, in this case) written using Japanese characters.

Well, sorry, but, well, I'm posting again. The reason being, I have some more useful phrases...





Bakamono! - "Idiot" (baka), only stronger.


Omae o korosu - (spelling may be off) I'm going to kill you.


Soo desu ka? - Is that so?


Hai - Yes


Iie - No


Konnichiwa - Good day


Konbanwa - Good evening (Goodnight?)


Soo desu ne? - Isn't that right?


Tanto - Shortest Japanese sword... more like a dagger


Yoroshiku o-negai shimasu - Pleased to meet you (rough translation)

bai is japanese for by/bye

No, that's sayounara (or is it sayoonara?). If anything, "bai" is another Japanese-ized English phrase, like "burakku naito".

Sayonara is Good Bye, not Bye or By.

No no. Actually, goodbye is "adiosu" (adios) or "adyuu" (adieu). :rolleyes: I took that from the dictionary I posted. Look, get it through your head. The Japanese borrowed a lot of words from English, but that was all after the time of the Samurai. "Bai" is no more "bye" than "biiru" is "beer" or "kouhii" ("h" in Japanese is pronounced similair to an "f" in English) is "coffee".

Dude do you know anything about language.. go look up how you say hello in spanish.. there is like 10 different ways. It is even in the japanese dictionary I have, it says bai is by/bye. Don't get *****y with me Mr. "I know all japanese". It really doesn't matter if it is japanese and came from english.. it is still japanese.. new words are allowed to be added. Go look at the big difference in the Webster dictionary from today and 5 years from now. They add words all the time.

I'm aware of that. I have nothing against words being added to a language or changing meaning or what have you. However, we do not use modern Japanese for the same reason that the Dustari don't (or... well... shouldn't) go around saying "Liek wow d00dz tahts' realy kickass!" We're trying to use Samurai-era Japanese.
