Kaimetsu 05-11-2001 12:11 AM

I always thought it would be cool if players who had been killed respawned somewhere else as ghosts (which are kinda like a new race, albeit a very limited one) and couldn't fight or interact with their environment until they got back to their corpse and joined with it. It would be a nice way of making deaths a bit more substantial, but it would probably be too big a change to make.

Maybe it'd work if it was limited to a single race or something, but I dunno. Like the vampires: easy to script but not necessarily good for Graal.

They tried it, had too many bugs.

Kaimetsu 05-11-2001 12:35 AM

Oh, I never played Valikorlia. But they coded it without

a) The new commands, and
b) The genius of Stefan to help them (or so I'd guess)

Nowadays I reckon it would be much easier.

I think it would be neat if there was a heaven and hell on graal, like you would be warped to hell if you had ap of 99 or lower, and you would goto heaven if you have 100ap (cuz you cant be bad at all if you goto heaven) and it would be a miniquest that you would have to find the gate back to graal, this would make death more substatial

Nai 05-11-2001 04:30 AM

It would probably be more
like 50AP or less. You could
be a saint, have 99 ap, die
and go to "hell".

Rekad 05-11-2001 05:01 AM

it should be 0-90 goes to hell, 91-100 goes to heaven, because AP isnt hard to gain

Lomgren 05-11-2001 05:58 AM

Of course, you would have to make the gate's position random each time the person died, otherwise after being killed a couple times, the player would have the route memorized...

Rekad 05-11-2001 06:49 AM

make like 10 different routes, with walls that show up randomly

Termina_GP4 05-11-2001 07:02 AM

trust me, people dye allot more than ten times

Kaimetsu 05-11-2001 07:47 PM

Uh, I think this has moved away from whee it should have been. Sending people to heaven or hell is overly religious and it would annoy the person way too much to make them navigate a maze everytime they wanted to rejoin a fight. If they only had to recover their corpse then it'd be fine because they'd be going where they needed to be to fight anyway.

Rekad 05-12-2001 03:14 AM

OVERLY RELIGIOUS!?

if that is overly religious, then DBZ would have been banned in America a long time ago, its the same concept they have, but if there was heaven and hell in a pw, or we shall deam them "primary death" then it would make it so people wouldnt just keep dying, harassing someone

Hawk 05-12-2001 06:56 AM

This sounds like a good idea.
Only if it was religious?
hmm

Trust me, you woudn't like it at all.
We had that on Damasca, and it was annoying...

PK --> Hell --> PK --> Hell
Die --> Heaven --> Die --> Heaven

Every time you pked or died, you had to wait 60 seconds to get back to real life. Really annoying :(

Huggles 06-02-2001 09:16 AM

YOu turn into a ghost.... And need to return to your body to come back to life!

toad1413 06-02-2001 09:27 AM

Yeah, Kaimetsu is onto a good idea here, but people have really stuffed it up with the heaven and hell stuff.

grim_squeaker_x 06-02-2001 06:33 PM

You turn into a ghost, then you have to search for a healer NPC who can resurrect you and you'd get all your equipment back if you found your corpse again, you can only loot your corpse yourself. And what would we have then? A complete copy of Ultime Online's ghost system, yay! :p

and what if a newbie with 50 ap gets killed?
