. GIFs Not Allowed?

I was hearing sometings goin around that we are to use .pngs and .mngs for images now, is this true?

Gifs are still ok to use but PNGs and MNGs are best.

The quality is better but it can't be animated.

well, Someone was saying that we should use .mngs and that because .gifs don't d/l into the players webgifx folder right or something x.x

PNG's are better than gif, but the reson why gif is not allowed, is that the gif imges load before the level, but the png and mng do not
